Question about 2004 Land Rover FreeLander

2004 Freelander sometimes won't start

I only have 14,000 miles on the car. I started having problems with starting it about two months ago, but after turning the key off and starting again it always started. Until last week. It just died on me last week, it won't start. I live on an island in the middle of the Pacific, no LR service here, so I towed it to the MB dealer. They changed the cranker sensor and it starts intermittenly now. They said just keep trying it eventually will start. Anyone else with similar problem?

I have a 07 Honda Pilot, out of the blue it just won't start. First time was in a parking lot and had it jumped, immediately took it to the dealership and they checked the battery and ignition system and said everything was fine. The next time it happened we tried restarting it and within about 5 minutes it started. Back to Honda, but they can't test they system unless it is failing. A 2 year old car with less than 20 thousand miles should not fail like this. After reading these forms Honda has got to be fully aware that there is a inherent problem.

My name is martin dwyer, mobile repair services, on the big island of hawaii.......i am fixing a freelander with the same problem, it seems that the ignition switches are a problem on this vehicle....its a check of the fuse box voltages to clarify if a reduced voltage is being supplied to the fuse box........more quality components .........martin 808-443-6380

I have a 2004 land rover freelander and it cut off after fitting in injector now it just cranks and won"t start

If the injector you fitted is wont build fuel pressure and start.Have an injector leak off test done to identify if injector(s) are faulty or not. Also check the low pressure pump underneath drivers rear behind wheel...will often jam before failing...if it dont run with ignition on / cranking...give it a little tap.

2004 chrysler pacific will start sometimes but sometimes won't

I would suspect the fuel pump is the problem, it may be sticking at times and this causes a no start. The pump is located inside the fuel tank and it is electric.

I own a FIVE DOOR 2004 TD4 FREELANDER HSE.A month ago i experienced hard starting for a few days then the problem cleared on its own.I would try to start it then got it going after the 2nd or 3rd...

This sounds like the starter has gone out. It usually doesn't happen this early on but it all depends on how often it is used. The best thing to do would be to take it out and take it to your local parts store and see if they can run a "bench" test on it to see if it is any good! If you go to start it and you don't hear it clicking or ticking when you turn the key that is a sure sign it went bad. If you do hear that then you may have a problem with the ignition itself! Hope this is of some help!

Have a good one!

2004 Land Rover Freelander - Engine Shakes

Hydraulic lifters? I have been racking my brains for this one. Lifters will sometimes pump up when cold and then lose pressure as they get worked. Would explain why your camshaft died. Suggest you look at old camshaft, see the cams that were worn and replace those lifters. Only thing I can come up with!

Freelander wont start

it's a starter motor problem, the solenoid contact inside the starter
is dirty give it a good cleanup with a sand paper and it should be fine. I have the same starting problem, I just cleanup the copper contacts and presto! starts in one click. or you can buy a starter
copper contact from under $12 from ebayUK go to freelander starter motor.

Freelander wont start grrrr

This is really one of them that you can spend hundreds and still miss the problem. This is the order that things need to be checked. Start cheap first. But before anything, hook a fuel gauge to the fuel rail and let it run but keep and eye on the pressure. Any eratic movements of the gauge would put the blame on the fuel pump of filter. And have the timing checked. with high miles will need new timing belt. It wouldnt hurt to have a compression test done too. Also is there exhaust coming from the tail pipe adiquitly if not then your catalytic converter is stoped up or about to.

This list does not mean go buy all that. Its just check points for now.

1 air cleaner
2 fuel filter
3 PCV valve
4 throttle sensor.
5 crank and cam sensors
6 MASS airflow sensor
7 spark plug and wires.

sorry for the long to do list but like i said this is one of them probs that could be many things.
