Question about 1997 Nissan Pathfinder

1 Answer

Dont start does not start; I have taken battery to auto zone and they say it is good, I have also taken off the starter and taken to auto zone and they checked it (good). When you turn it on you hear a click just one, from engine compartment and that is it nothing else, it has power because the radio will work. There for a while if I slammed the hood it would start I have checked the fuses to make sure they are all tight and now blown.

I have a 1997 Pathfinder and seem to have the same problem, the thing is that it usually runs great but if the weather is cold and wet...it has a hard time starting...just turns but doesn't completely turn over....but it I wait a day or two when the weather is dry...it starts right up like nothing was wrong...any suggestions?

2002 Ford Explorer,My car want start without a jump off,the battery is good, the switch is clicking the lights and radio works find, whats the problem

This could be an issue of a bad starter. The starter can be tested but it needs to be taken off the vehicle and tested on a machine which puts a load on it to see if it is working properly. Auto Zone and Advance Auto will test the starter fr free.

Car dont turn over some time in the morning

I will have to agree with the other solutions. I will add that most Auto Parts suppliers will test your electrical system for free , you just have to get the vehicle there. Auto Zone has been very helpful with this , they check the starter, battery, alternator. I would say you have a battery or charging system problem. Also have the starter checked as they can go bad and put a large drain on your battery when starting.

04 trailblazer wont start just a click all lights air and radio work

well having lights still means battery power is available but how much, check battery volts should be 12.5 volts, if battery volts below 10 volts the starter solenoid hold in and pull in winding wont be enough to drive starter solenoid and starter. if battery okay.make sure battery cables battery posts is clean from corrossion.if all is good, have starter and solenoid checked out at auto zone or advance auto parts.if you hear clicking under the hood look for faulty starter relay

1997 - v6 Toyota Camry just got a new battery and now the starter just clicks when you go to start car. Everything lights up and chimes inside car but just can't turn it over. How do I replace the...

You can purchase a starter from Auto Zone or Advance auto. I do not have pics sorry. But if you have metric tools, unhook your positive battery cable first from the battery to prevent arcing. The starter is located on the transmission next to the engine. You will need a rachet, a swivel adapter,a 3 inch extension and a 6 inch extension. I am not sure of the socket size on the bolts holding the starter to the engine. There should be between 2 to 4 bolts holding the starter to the engine depending on the model.Dont take the starter solenoid off the starter, just unbolt the starter from the engine.Once it is off you can unhook your wires but make sure you note what wires go where. You should have one heavy wire that bolts to the side of the solenoid and then a plug also. You will need your old starter with you when you buy the replacement for the core charge. The hardest part is simply getting to the bolts holding the starter on,but the extensions will help with that.Good luck.

Is changing a starter on a 2000 ls impala difficult.

The starter should have 2 large bolts and a wiring harness, go under your truck, find it and confirm what I have told you.

If you do it.

Disconnect the battery!
Disconnect the wiring from the starter/
remove the bolts slowly, the starter is heavy, note if any "shims" are between the starter and the engine.

Starters usually dont go that often, you may want to check your battery condition, remove the battery and take to your local Auto Zone or Advance Auto to have the battery check, with Auto Zone they will can alos hook up a code reader to see if you have any issues, that is also free.

best of luck hope this helped.

Is battery dead ? Can you jump start? If you can get it started by jumping it, take it to your local auto parts store and ask them to check your battery and alternator. They will usually do this for free.

Starter--1997 Dodge Caravan-3.0

I would take your car to wal mart or auto zone and have battery tested 1st. Bad batteries can cause this too. This test is free, if your battery is good then you can remove your starter. Its usually on the bottom side of engine and usually has 2 bolts with wires that run from battery. You can follow big red wire from + battery terminal to starter. You can also have your starters tested for free at auto zone once removed.

good luck.
