Mine was idling funny, up and down up and down. Even as I was driving, the tach would jump, 1700 to 2000 then back down even with the cruise on. Then last week, all of the sudden wants to stall when stopping. Starts back up fine and seems to idle much lower.

Engine wont start, unless I push the gas pedal and keep my foot on it.?

Could be a dirty throttle body, or a stuck idle air control valve.
Is the check engine light staying on now ?

2003 Dodge Durango (5.9L V8) won't stay running unless you keep your foot on the gas.

Check temp sensor and TPS, throttle positioning sensor. The power control module,"pcm.is a possible thought.Just check all connections. It is always a good idea to spray WD 40 or equivalent in the connections.

Sounds like a vacuum leak, but please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r7427423-fix_poor_idle_high_idle_stalling_fuel . These are generic instructions. If you getstuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.

After starting my 1999 Dodge Durango, when I take my foot off the gas, the vehicle shuts off. As long as my foot stays on the gas pedal, it stays running.

I had the same problem it was the idle air control valve, I purchased another but problem remained, so clean old one with carb cleaner and steel wool put back on and worked great again.

2004 dodge durango v8 when i started it this morning it would not stay running, I would have to keep foot on gas to keep it running and the vehicle was idling very rough

Durangos are very sensitive to bad or failing batteries. Have your battery load tested. If it registers flaky or is older than 5 years, I would replace it anyway.
