Heat shields are just spot welded on, yes they do fall off all the time and i've never seen a vehicle catch on fire from the loss of a heat shield.

My boyfriend worked on my car. And the next day i found these parts in my trunk. I have a nissan altima 2003 . I was wondering if someone could tell me what these parts go to. And are they important

They look like heat shields for the engine exhaust manifold and catalytic converter and yes they are important, have him put them back on. Is this guy still your friend???

Heat shield rattling noise engine

Go to a a large hardware store and buy 2 band clamps that will fit around the heat shields and clamp them tight. This is the manufacturers approved fix for heat shield rattle. The fix sure beats the $1000.00 for a new catalytic converter assembly. I have done this fix dozens of times over the years of my car repair career.

Outside brake light stays on

check your brake light switch under the dash. pull up on the brake pedal, does the light go off? a return spring may be broken, however, more likely the switch. you can pull the brake light fuse to save your battery

What and where is the heat stove tube

The heat stove is a metal shield that covers one of your exhaust manifolds, usually the passenger side. It has a flexible pipe that runs to your air intake. When the engine is cold a valve in the intake opens and the engine pulls warm air from the manifold through the pipe.
Chances are the stove is missing from your truck, they tend to rust out at the mounting points and either fall off or get pulled off by someone who gets annoyed by the rattling they make. You can still run the pipe down to the manifold without the stove and it will do the job, just not as quick. The pipe can be got at an autoparts store but I think the stove is a dealer item. Ask to be sure. Hope this helps.

Vibrating noise under 98 lincoln navigator

The only way to truly rule it out is by taking off the heat shield. I took the one off my truck, ratltling stopped. If its the heat shield it probably rattles more at idle when warm than any other time.

Rattling of catalytic converter heat shield

If it is the heat shield , any muffler shop can put a couple of welds on it. Could also be that the cat converter is destroyed inside with pieces of it ratling around. In that cast a new cat is the only answer.

03 Mountaineer AWD Premier V8 rattling noise under vehicle

If its the heat shield against the underside.its install with fender style aluminum rivets( if you do it be very careful not to drill into a harness) If its the heat shield around the CAT then you should replace the cat. You can try to repair it with a pair of long hose clamps but I don't advise removing it. In the wrong environment the heat could cause a grass fire. or ignite trash that may get caught or blown underneath. Good luck.

Rattling sound on the underneath passenger front area.

There is a heat shield Cindy and yes they do rettle quiet nicely, I had the same problem and I would not worry about changing the converter yet if there is no waring lights and if the blazer runs fine. If it's that much of an issue and you don't want to turn up the sterio, have someone crawl under the truck and try to rip it out. Good luck
