Question about 2001 Jeep Cherokee
After driving for a substantial amount of time(45min to 1hr), then shutting down the engine(to go into the supermarket), after restarting the jeep ,it will idle extreamly poorly fallowed by a check engine light. It does not do this all the time, just under these conditions listed above. I've brought it to several mechanics and each one has given me a different answer. When hooked up to a computer it says there's a missfire in cylinder #3. The last guy i brought it to says it needs a new injector. Wouldn't i know if my injector was bad? Like i said the jeep drives great otherwise. Please help me
Injector may be intermittently sticking there is a pintle inside the injector and can be dirty causing to stick open or closed. it can also be an igniton coil or boot on cylinder 3 a good mechanic should be able to tell you. They cannot fix it if they dont see symptoms or an obvious sighn of misfire. in this case they will take an educated guess based on their experiances or tell you to come back when it gets worse or is acting up at the time
