The gas filter is located passenger side just forward of the rear axle. The band that holds the gas filter in place is a pinch band that has a nut welded/formed into it on the back/top side. A 12 mm bolt holds the band in place. The top of the band has a bracket that hold the return fuel line - this just pops off and the return fuel line can be reattached once the filter has been replaced. If your filter has never been replaced there is masking tape covering the pinch connections at both ends of the filter. Remove the masking tape. You need to put a pan under the old filter to catch any gas spillage - it will be minimal. Also the new filter comes with plastic caps on the ends of the new filter - you will want to use them to plug the old filter connectors so you need to take them off the new filter to have handy. Ther is a T off the inlet gas line that has a cap on it - remove the cap and press the needle in the T to relieve any pressure that is on the gas line - If it has been setting for an hour there will probably be very little if any pressure on the line. You can skip messing with the T and you will see about an ounce of fuel that will come out of the filter when you remove the hose.

To remove the connectors push the connector ring away from the filter housing. (I did the front first because I had more room). I used a paint can opener to help pry the hose away from the filter - it is shaped like a can opener but without a cutting edge - a large flat screwdriver would perform as well. It is a tight fit but once it starts to move it will come off. Once the hose is off use the plastic caps you took off the new filter to help hold the gas in the old filter. After removing both ends remove the holding band and place it on the new filter. The two lines will go back on easier than they came off, just push them onto the filters nipples. Put the 12 mm OR 10MM bolt back into the pinch band and reintall the return fuel line. Wipe any stray fluids and your done.

Good Luck.

SOURCE: Volvo V70 xc AWD '98 - fuel filter change

Brandonlo168,

The fuel filter can be located under the carpeted cargo storage floor at the rear of the wagon. Remove the four 10mm bolts, remove the cover. You will then see a removeable plate to the right just behind the rear passenger seat. Fuel filter can be seen through hole in hole. Replaced from underneath wagon. Be sure to make sure lines are fully inserted onto filter. Check for leaks. No smoking, extinguisher handy. Note arrow on filter for correct fuel flow.

SOURCE: Volvo S60 sensor ?

Sounds like an oxygen sensor (there are two). I had a recent problem where I had a rough idle and my S60 continued to stall out. Turned out to be the rear oxygen sensor. After replacement, car idles nicely and car drives normally.

SOURCE: Where is the fuel filter in a Volvo S40 2005

Yes that is correct. The only filter is inside the fuel tank, and as I recall its a non exchangeable filter. It just gets replaced with the fuel pump when it goes bad

SOURCE: My Volvo S60 Fuel flap won't lock or unlock,

The pin solenoid that activates the remote locking is not receiving any electrical signal, it must have been unhooked. This solenoid is right by the filler door, inside the boot. The alarm activates on electrical differences, such as dome light, boot light or filler door electrical demand when it is activated. Hence, the alarm wont trip off if door is opened manually from the outside.

Wait...you already drained the oil so are you needing to replace the oil filter? The diesel fuel filter is a separate filter. Please clarify.

Maintenance of s40 volvo 2003

Volvo is a good car. if you maintain you volvo by changing the oil on time, maybe after every month according to how you drive and changing you fuel filter, using 93 grade fuel or 89. I advice you to keep your volve. do your oil change on time don't wait until three to five months before changing your oil and don't use poor fuel (87) grade. change your tranmission oil after 18 months then your volvo is yours for life.
