Question about 1995 GMC Jimmy

1 Answer

2001 GMC Jimmy

I have a two-fold problem. I replaced the spark plugs in July and had trouble with the firing order. We got that part figured out and it's been running fine since. However, shortly after this the ABS and Brake lights are coming on in the panel when the car or the weather is warmer. It does not happen when it's cool. Also, I filled up with gas 2 days ago and the truck is now spitting when in idle in the drive position. Any ideas? Thanks for your help!

I believe you have 2 seperate issues. the abs/brake lite issue i would suspect a front speed sensor, i have replaced many. does the vehicle have an odd stopping feeling just as you come to a stop? the second part could be an issue with fuel quality(who knows these days!) seems coincidental it happened right after filling, other than tune-up parts, other suspects are mass air flow sensors, coolant temp switches, even 02 sensors, is engine lite on? maybe have it scanned to be sure nothing is stored in computer. (autozone will scan for free)

2004 gmc jimmy, tried to start fired twice didnt catch now just turns over,i can here fuel pump and smell gas.replaced ignition coil??? still wont fire

Check the ECM/BAT fuse. this fuse controls the ECM and the fuel injection circuit. If the fuse is ok, you need to check for voltage at the spark plug. Pull the #1 spark plug. If the cylinder is getting fuel the plug will be wet with gasoline. Put the spark plug wire back on the plug. Now crank the starter and look for a spark from the spark plug electrode. If you can let me know what you find from these tests, I can help you determine the next course of action.

Looking for the fireing order for my 1993 jimmy 4.3 votek moter

Here is the firing order for that vehicle and engine, however, some people can not figure it out (color coding and numbers seem to be too complicated for some) and have given low ratings for this diagram, and I will probably stop giving out this firing order. Let me know if you need help to understand this diagram, or require any further assistance.

1991 4.3L GMC Jimmy S-15 will not start. Turns over, but does not start. Replace spark plugs and wires, ignition coil, module checked good. The plugs are gettin fire but not sending it to the motor?

You need 3 things.
Compression
Good hot blue spark to all plugs.
Good gasoline and proper fuel pressure. 13-13.5 lbs on your TBI
If you have all 3 then move on to injector pulse to both injectors.

Keep me posted and recheck your spark plug wire to make sure they are not crossed. firing order 1-2-3-4-5-6 cylinder # passenger side 1-3-5 front to back. cylinder # drivers side 2-4-6 front to back
distributor #1 is located at the 7 o"clock and rotates clock wise so next distributor post on the right working clock wise is #2. Good luck and hope this helps.

Number 2 spark plug

Are you sure it's the spark plug that's faulty or the ignition wire?? How old are plugs and wires?
If you don't know if it's your spark plug not firing or your ignition wire you could move spark plug to number 1 then check your code reader.
Or you could do an ohms continuity test on your number 2 ignition wire to verify that there is no break in the wire. Common problem to check for. If wires and plugs are old and high mileage maybe should change all including cap and rotor on distributor. Fresh wires plugs cap and rotor always improve mileage and performance.
Good luck, sorry can't help with tranny.
