Question about 1998 GMC Jimmy

1998 GMC JIMMY

Hi, the issue with my vehicle is that it's hard to start in the morning cold. But it eventually does. However, when the vehicle is running...it runs like it's missing a cylinder, sluggish in gear. I put it in neutral and it's fine. I'm thinking a tune-up, maybe ignition coil.

A tune up would be the first step; plugs wires and fuel filter. then try a new rotor cap and button. if there still is a problem then check and see what you are getting for fuel pressure.

98 gmc jimmy starts hard runs give it gas 1500rpm boggs down!! and nothin else wont excel over 1500rpm boggs down!

It sounds like the fuel fiter is clogged. Change the filter. It is located under the driver side of the vehicle tucked up inside the frame rail. Be sure to let the vehicle sit long enough for the pressure to bleed off before removing the old filter.

Hard starts in the morning even though replaced most parts

Check the power to the cold start injector. (it's only going to have fire for a few sec. after the key is turned on). If the fire is good, replace the cold start injector. This injector is activated for a few seconds when the engen temp is low to add a little fuel lower down in the intake and closer to the pistons.

1995 JIMMY HARD TO START & SOMETIMES WON'T.

Hi: Have owned 9 Blazers and Jimmy's. have never heard of a cold start switch on a Jimmy. If the engine is fireing I would rule out the coil for now. What you are describing sounds to me like low fuel pressure, if the pressure is not around 60 PSI then the injectors will not function correctly. If you have ever driven the vehicle for a while, stopped somewhere and it wouldn't start unril it has sat for a while then chances are the problem is the fuel pump located in the fuel tank.

Hard start when cold/first start in morning

The pressure relief valve is in the spider fuel injector not the fuel pump. We have had our 94 gmc jimmy for 4 years & have had to replace the fuel injector 4 times which cost right at $500 each time for the part. Yes the spider fuel injector cost averages around $500.
