If the castings of the engine happen to be able to catch and hold air pockets, it is about the only reliable way to get the air to move out of the head or block where it is trapped.

Park in a manner that puts the uppermost hose on the engine at the highest point. If it happens to be the upper heater hose, you may consider adding a flushing tee.

Air pockets are rather common. I have had 3 vehicles that suffered from air pockets in various locations.

I had a similar problem mine would hit a rev limiter at 3500 rpms. it would blow black sut out of the tail pipe. Ended up being mass air flow sensor/valorem sensor. almost 500.00 from nissan. fixed it though.

SOURCE: stick shift # Automatic RPM

That is normal,If you do the same speed in 4th gear the rpm's will almost double.

The rpm's will repond faster in a manual than an automatic.

In a manual the engine supplies the power required directly to the gear that you have selected thus the engine rpm's will increase or decrease as needed.

SOURCE: The RPM of Nissan Altima stays high when drive over 65 MPH.

No....the rpms differ from engine to engine and from manufacturer to manufacturer. RPM's are always higher at higher speeds.

Poor heat

It probably has an air pocket in the cooling system and needs to be bled out.

No heat ..help installed new heater switch, replaced water pump..replaced coolants, and thermostat......................what else could it be? Nissan 2003 GXE Sentra 1.8 L Engine/...

you could have an air pocket in the cooling system that has to be burped. With a cold engine, park uphill and leave the radiator cap loose. Fill radiator and coolant reservoir. Start engine with cap loose and run at 1500 rpm until temp gauge reads normal. Feel if top radiator return hose from engine to radiator is hot. If yes, coolant is flowing and thermostat is open. If cold, thermostat is not staying closed until engine is hot.

report results.

1996 audi a4, no heat.

Sounds like your thermostat is sticking open, when this happens your coolant in your engine isn't given enough time to warm up and just cycles threw to your radiator, which cools the fluid not allowing it to get warm/hot. Thermostat tend to go bad, this is most likely your issue, just have your thermostat and gasket for your thermostat replaced too. Your looking at about 10 dollars in parts maybe 20 dollars in labor! If this helped give me a thumbs up please!
