Noise when heat or air is on, a little smoke on by passenger winshield
Crackling noise when air or heat is on, maybe something got into the blower. last weekend I had the air on alot while shopping and when I returned home I had some smoke coming out of hood by passanger side of windshield. Engine very hot on passenger side. I opened the hood and let it cool off. I noice a rubber burning sent slightly.
Last week my mechanic replaced radiator and alternator. Could my mechanic have dropped something into the blower when working on my car? I am planning saturday to drive for a hour or so with the heat/air on so I can see if the problem occur again and then go straight to my mechanic so he can actually see the smoke or smell the rubber burning sent.
Please help I just spent 750 for alll the work I had done. Want to give this car to my daughter soon and buy a new one.

It is very possible that the blower motor squirrel cage housing has leaves in it, they get in there from the air intake for the system at the base of the windshield. Remove the blower motor from the housing and clean out the leaves. These leaves also pose a fire hazard and I've seen that a few times, the heat source is the blower motor speed dropping resistor in the air duct near the blower motor squirrel cage housing, it can ignite the leaves, this can cause at the very least smoke coming out the vents, which can be a little exiting on the freeway.
its simple under the hood you will see the big cylindrical piece on the firewall under the winshield on the passenger side the you will see the back end off the heater motor sticking out with maybe 4 or 5 bolts hollding it on the ids a wire harnesss with 2 wires undo the harness and bolts and pull it out might be a little tuff becouse of the gasket jood luck
I dont know if it works the same, but I drive a 2006 Mitsu Lancer Ralliart. When you push the recirc air button, a little motor closes a little gate that blocks outside air and pulls the air from the interior instead. The blower motor is located behind the glovebox. It is secured by a couple screws. I guess its possible that a foreign object such as a leaf or something is touching the blower motor and causing the noise.
