i was told it may be the cambelt, which i was told costs quite a lot of money. Thanks for that answer, i dont know much about cars but i thought it may have just been the ignition as well.

Well..sounds like the classic afterrun situation. maybe a quick appraisal with an engine profiler will reveal some good results..of course, you might want to consider a slightly higher octane petrol, too

It can be a problem with the ignition, in this case you will need to replace the ignition block.

Put it in drive heat guage jumos up halfway

hello I don't know what kind of car you have, possibly you allowing exhaust into your cooling system which could be headgasket warped head cracked block, if you can find a radiator shop, they have a test where they put a blue solution in a little bottle the radiator cap off in car running and coolant level down a couple inches stick one endl the filler neck squeeze the ball on the other end, it test the air in the radiator if the solution turn yellow you have got exhaust in your cooling system.. its called block tester they might have them at parts stores but I don't know what they cost nowadaysl good luck

2001 range rover getd warm and not hot

When operating properly the HSE temp guage should be straight up on your guage or halfway between cold and red. If your fluid level is correct and its not getting near the red zone you may have some radiator blockage or trapped air (especially if your system fluid has been recently serviced or drained and replaced). In any event, the red zone on your dash guage should be avoided at all costs. Overheating of this engine can and most likely will be disasterous. Best advice, don't take chances here, pay for a couple hours shop time at your best Rover shop and have it diagnosed correctly the first time. Do not take it to any shop or mechanic that does not work on Rovers regularly. There are many aspects both operational and mechanical that are unique to the Range Rover cooling system. Hope this helps, good luck.

My lancer 2004 when I start the the engne the fan is running right away even the radiator is still cold and when the engine is turned of the fan is still running for aobut 3 to 5 seconds before it finally...

engine thermostat is a triggering devise to make the fan's work. seconds before it stop when the engine is off, normal for the engine high temperature but it's sign abnormality in the system. fans also runs when the air conditioning unit is "on" to keep the engine operating temperature for its additional load from the unit. need to check if the air conditioning is in "on" position, especially the engine thermostat it may be stuck.

Mitsi lancer 92 guage halfway is this normal

On my Mits half way on the temp gauge is perfect. Only goes higher if overheating.

You may want to check your thermostat for sticking. After warm up use a rag and grasp the upper radiator hose. You should feel the coolant moving through. If not replace thermostat.
