Re: how do you program a new keyless enrty remote for a...
Sorry bud, there is no manual way to program these. Some models you can press and hold the unlock and lock buttons down for 30-45 seconds and will set itself. You will need to take this to the dealer and have them hook a scan tool under the dash and set it. Normally only cost about 35.00 to do this.
a 6ya Mechanic can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

If you have some "new" key, could try to re-programed and
synchonized, you must have all remote entry transmitters (maximum of
four) available before beginning this procedure. To reprogram the remote
entry transmitters (accordign with the Lincoln LS Owners Manual) :
1. Ensure the vehicle is electronically unlocked.
2. Put the key in the ignition.
3. Turn the key from the 1 (LOCK) position to 4 (RUN).
4. Cycle eight times rapidly (within 10 seconds) between the 1 (LOCK)
position and 4 (RUN). Note: The eighth turn must end in the 4 (RUN)
5. The doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm that the programming mode has been activated.
6. Within 20 seconds press any button on the remote entry transmitter.
Note: If more than 20 seconds have passed you will need to start the procedure over again.

Do you still have both cars? If not, you don't have to un-program the remote to use it on another car.
If so, then simply reprogram the remotes you want to use on the 2000 chevy and then when you are done only the ones u just programmed will work on it, then simply repeat the process on the 2004 chevy truck.
You should have it scaned to see if you have any codes. It has a RCDLR (remote control door lock reciever) this is the module that recieves the signal from the fobs. If it has a problem then the system will not work. If it has to be replaced then a dealer will have to program it for you. Good Luck

The code is on the fuse box under the dash near the hood release. On my van there are two bar codes on a sticker attached to the fuse box. Under the first bar code, on the right side is the 5 digit code (bring your glasses the numbers are really small). After you get this code, just search the internet and there are plenty of forums on programing the keyless remote and also adding your own unique number to the key pad entry.
