Question about 1995 Pontiac Bonneville

1 Answer

Car wont start

Hi i have a 95 pontiac bonneville se. we just replaced the feul pump thinking that it had gone out. And when we did it started right up but after getting home it wont start again. it turns over like it wants to start. it just acts like its not getting fuel. i have no idea what to try next other than replacing the fuel injectors and housing. i was just wondering if this is a common problem with this year of bonneville if so that would save me alot of time.

I had my '98 Bonne's battery replaced last week. My car has been starting fine until yesterday morning. When I tried to turn it on, the car would turn over, but it failed to actually start. I'm stuck in Chicago! Help! I have a two-hour drive and I need to get it going long enough to get me home where I can take it in to my mechanic.

The cam and crank position sensors are common failure items that would cause these symptoms

Had the same problem. Took it to local guy and he put it on the computer and found the wire running underneath the driver side floor mat had gone bad. Had to do with the security shut-off, which this wire affected. Replaced that wire, and the car has been running great ever since - happened 19 months ago.

i just went through the same symtoms with my 95 pontiac bonneville. if she can check for spark and its good then the next step would be to use a fuel pressure gauge at the fuel rail to see if it has good pressure. but i think you'll find the problem is the fuel pump and of course it's in the tank.

What is the firing order for the spark plugs in a 96 pontiac bonneville i think i have them mixed up because my car wont start

If 3800 engine the timing is 1-6-5-4-3-2
If 2.8L or 3.1L or 3.4L timing is 1-2-3-4-5-6

Coil packs on 3800 are (1 / 4, 5 / 2, 3 / 6)
Coil packs on 2.8L or 3.1L are (1 / 4, 6 / 3, 2 / 5) 1995 earlier across the front from right to left.
Coil packs on 3.4L are (5 / 2, 3 / 6, 4 / 1) 1996 across the back from right to left.

If the belt broke check the area around the belt for any damaged wiring, look down by the crankshaft pulley.
