Re: odd warning light in dash for 2003 pontiac montana
I just had this same problem. I have no coolant problem.
I hit a pothole and my front end was damaged. Upon closer inspection the sensor was broken off and hanging down. If you seem to have no problems with your vehicle running properly, it may well be you have a damaged sensor registering a problem that doesn't exist.

I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am and I have had the same issue as you. I discovered that some pontiacs from 2000 and up have a security feature that, if triggered, will not allow the vehicle to start. In order to fix this propblem the computer has to reset. This can be done by placing your key in the ignition and turning it to the ACC mode. Do not place in the ON mode. Once the key is in the ACC mode the dashlights should all be on. Let the vehicle sit in this ACC mode for 15-30 minutes. The computer should then reset itself and the vehicle should start.
If the "check engine" or "service engine soon" light is on, then the computer has detected and stored a trouble code ( DTC) and you need an OBD II code reader. the connection should be on the drivers side under the dash on the inside of the vehicle. In some states the local auto parts store will do this for free.
Which computer are you wanting to reset? There are at least 5 on your vehicle. The next question is WHY do you want to reset it? Are you trying to clear fault codes or are you wanting to clear adaptive learning stategies? or BOTH? Are you having a problem with warning lights coming on? If so, have the problems been corrected that CAUSED the lights to come on?
Anyway, a scan tool is required to reset ANY of the computers on your vehicle.
the boards in the tail lights have issues the plugs melt and they screw up the grounds. if your dash light signal indicators or on steady at night then chances are you will need new harnesses and light board assemblies
Have you tried eBay or Craigs list, they have many manuals up for bid all the time, you can also get one from the dealer, he will have to order it though, and the cost will be much higher than other sites.
