Question about 1987 GMC G2500
I have a security system on my van that works sometimes and sometimes not but never gave me a problem with my starting until lately. I had to push a little button under my dash and then it would engage the engine starter and start. Now, it still does the same thing but the starter will turn and engine will not start. Where is the problem as it starts sometime and sometime not. It may start ten times in a row and then it will not start at all and run the battery completely down after about 15 crank overs.
I am not convinced that the problem is the security system. When you push the little button under the dash, do you have to hold the button down while you crank or is it a case of push and release. This tells me how the security system is activated. Get back with me on these questions
If it was mine I would disable the security system for a period of time and see if there are any instances
where the vehicle does not start.
