Yes it is the clutch slipping, in high gear the greatest load is put on the clutch so that is when they slip the most.

Hello, and welcome to FixYa. Please allow me to assist you.

I had the exact same problem in my V6 Camry. The problem turned out to be bad clutch hydraulic cylinders. I replaced the clutch master cylinder (on the firewall) and the clutch slave cylinder (on the transaxlwe), the problem was eliminated.

Replace your clutch hydraulic cylinders, and you will be fixed right up.

Thanks for choosing FixYa for assistance today.

Clutch pedle stays down

if you have a hydralic clutch usually the pedal staying on the floor indicates air in the clutch lines. if so check 4 leaks at the filler and at the slave cylinder. however just bleeding the clutch system may temporarily fix your issue

Clutch

the acuating cylinder for the clutch needs to be replaced. this explains why you ahve no resistance when you deprress the clutch peddle. when adjusted right you should have no more than 1-1 1/2 inches of free play in the clutch peddle. and since the car will be in gear with out the clutch being pressed tells me that the clutch itself is good. please rate this

Clutch

believe it or not, the floormat on my 2000 Sunfire will sometimes slip forward and hold the clutch pedal down against the floor. It truly feels like a mechanical problem, but simply pull the floormat away and the pedal pops right back up!
