Re: 98 f150 4.2 110.000 miles went to start up engine...
The intakes go bad on these engines....... they leak coolant in the cylinders and cause a hydro lock that causes the rods to bend making the piston skirt hit the crank......" clicking noise" theres a law suit in progress for this issue......... you can find info on the internet

How low was the oil? It could be something as simple as some oil is leaking out of the valve covers and once it hits the exhaust manifold then it starts smoking. Usually smoke coming from the engine compartment is a result of that. Look and see if it leaks any oil while you have it parked in pavement for a while in case it has something to do with the oil change.
white smoke sounds like either ingesting transmission fluid through a vacuum ,or a blown head gasket.those cars have coils and yes they go bad.you need to do a compression test and see if the head gasket is gone.low compression can also cause a misfire by not burning the fuel properly.
If its a 4JX engine then its injectors and seals at fault dont run it any more cos it may blow up - like rods through the side !
The diesel is going straight into the engine without being injected and as the fuel lift pump is mechanical it wont stop on the key .
Should be under isuzu warranty though they are doin that repair on 1998 Troopers over here for free .
