Is this happening when you are pulling a load, or going uphill? If so that would be somewhat normal. You should shift into drive a that point, to keep it from shifting up and down. If this happens under normal driving it could be the throttle position sensor. If the sensor is malfunctioning it thinks the gas pedal is pressed down further than is really is and shifts down. Please rate my answer so I am rewarded points.

Chang transmission fluid on 2002freelander

There are videos on You Tube Video you can watch

It looks like you need a metric allen wrench or driver,
to remove the drain plug or just remove the big plug
to drain

Then remove the trans pan (pan drop) as with any vehicle
Change the filter & then you have to pump the new fluid into
the side of the oil pan & then get the transmission warmed
up & shift thru the gears & then remove the oil filler plug again
& keep adding until it runs out with unit really hot

This is the current procedure on a ALL the so called (sealed
transmissions) out there.

You have to change fluid every 3 years or no more than
25 to 30,000 miles on ALL transmissions, just as in the 1970 thru 1980's, or they will fail
There is NO such thing as a sealed trans or 100,000 mile
plus or sealed for life transmission-- out there

That is all nonsense & they will & do fail-- as well as steering
racks, if you don't change the fluids & use the correct fluids &
proper fill procedures

The oil filter is stuck? 99 Cherokee Sport 4x4 4.0L

I think the best way to get a stubborn filter off is to use an oil filter cap wrench. about 7-8 dollares. get a new oil filter from the shilf and fit it to the cap wrench to make sure it's the right one. you also need an extension bar and ratchet.

How do I check the automatic transmission fluid in my 03 grand am 3400 sfi 4 dr

Ensure that the transaxle case temperature is 70° to 90° F (21° to 32° C). With the engine running, shift transmission through all gears. With engine idling in PARK, remove the check plug from the transmission. If transmission has been overfilled, allow fluid to drain out. If no fluid drains out, add fluid through the TRANS FLUID fill cap under the hood on the driver side in 1 pint (0.5 liter) increments until it slightly flows from the check plug. Reinstall the check plug.
