When you turn the ignition switch you can hear the fuel pump come on and all guages and lights work properly. The engine does not try to turn over and ther are no sounds coming from engine compartment. You can hear a relay clicking off and on in the fuse panel when you turn the key.Thought it may be the starter.what do you think.thanks

Re: 3.0 v6 will not start/turnover
I would be inclined towards the starter as the problem, but first check the battery cables and the connections at the starter, look for any acid damage or corrosion damage of any kind, make sure all the connectors are tight at the battery and the starter.

You cant check fuel pressure that way. You have to connect a fuel pressure guage to the fuel rail at the schrader valve. It should have 30-40psi when ignition is turned on. Injectors not functioning properly will cause a misfire Sounds like a fuel pump or fuel going out.
When the security system cuts the ignition, it lets you know. So it was probably the fuel or spark instead. You need to check rail fuel pressure with a gauge, and check current to coil with test light. It could be a simple relay like for the fuel pump. If you got no dash lights, it could be the ignition switch. The ignition or fuel control module could be bad, but Autozone can check them if you bring them in.
I was told the Kill switch is the cause of my Ford F150 not starting. It sounds like it wants to turnover but there's no fuel going to my motor, fuel line is dry and they can't hear the fuel pump turning on.
sounds alot the the pcm it controls the fuel pump and ign system but the anti theft would keep it from starting because the key has a transponder in it programmed for that vehicle and that would kill all ign if triggered
the computer controls the fuel injectors.they should measue about 1.4 ohms each.
put fuel directly into the throttle body and see if it will start.
check the wiring to the safety netral switch and all the grounds.
make sure that the ecu is seeing an input from the ignition switch.otherwise it will not turn on the pump.it is a complex setup and you need a wiring diagram
Try cam and/or crank sensor. If crank to cam timing isn't detected properly it'll crank all day but won't start. I had similar problem on my 2.5L V6 Avenger....drove home fine, no engine light, next morning it cranked, but wouldn't start. The crank sensor was faulty.
I have a '99 dodge dakota, 4 cyl, 5 speed manual. While researching a no start problem ran across possible solution to this problem. If no guage lights show when key truned to on position then normally a bad ignition switch. With fully charged battery and working ignition switch guage lights should slight up then go out when ignition in "on" position. Try shaking the key back and forth.
