The problem in most cases is the wiper switch contacts, this is very common. You will need to replace the switch to correct the issue.

What could be my problem for my windshield wipers to suddenly start and stop working?

It could be the screws are loose (at the bottom end of the wipers)
There may be a rubber cap you will need to access the screws. (Also worth checking if the wiper motor is working when wipers are not)

Other possibility, the wiper motor fuse is loose with intermittent connection - locate the fuse box and take out all fuses, inspect them for damage/burn marks and insert them firmly back.

Hope this helps

Windshield wipers work intermittently

If the wipers have a delay, turn it off. Another cause could be an overheating wiper motor.

My windscreen wipers have stopped working but it was just an intermittent problem to start with and they usually started working again after a short drive. What might be the problem. I can't find the fuse...

Could be the solder cracked on the wiper circuit board. Mine did that once that was the problem.Prob. not a fuse but it should be some were around the side of the dash or maybe under dash at the steering wheel.

Wipers won't stop wiping.

Sounds like your intermittent wiper circuit is defective. Normally the intermittent feature is engaged by one of the functions on the multi-function switch (usually on the steering column). The circuit of the intermittent wiper periodically activates a relay that closes across the "Wiper On" switch. Your intermittent wiper circuit is likely defective and holding its relay closed (or the relay is stuck closed), thereby keeping the wipers on. Note: The wiper motor has an internal switch that opens when the wipers are in the park position and that is designerd to stop the wipers in the park position. When you turn on the wipers (or the intermittent relay is closed), the motor's internal switch is shunted such that the wiper does not stop at the park point of the cycle.

VW Bora wiper problem

Have you checked the wiper motor and linkages to make sure they are properly lubricated? Take care to keep your fingers clear of the (hopefully) moving parts! Your typical can of maintenance spray might get them going initially, but grease is really needed in the long run. D.
