Question about 1992 GMC Sierra

1 Answer

92 gmc sierra no fuel to injectors

Truck sometimes will not start. Turns over strong but doesn't fire. It doesn't appear to be getting fuel to the injectors when this happens. Problem is intermittent and doesn't appear to be temp. related. I need to know what to start looking at.

Check the wiring under steering column. i had the same problem and thought it was a fuel pump. it ended up being a blown fuse because of some wires that were pulling out of a white wiring harness. it has about 8 wires or so on it and it plugs in to the harness for the column.

this is a very common problem and is usually the ignition module located under the distributor cap..

Why my 1998 gmc 15oo 4.2 v6 truck after warms up injectors stop pumping fuel

The pick up in the distributor is what tells the ECU to fire the injectors, would be a likely culprit.

I have a 92 GMC K1500 I drove approx. 2 miles to deliver a package truck was running fine. shut it off approx 10 min. later would not crank. pulled off air breather was not getting fuel. thought fuel pump...

It can still be the fuel pump.the pump could be getting hot and not working. If u let it set for awhile and cool down it will start. You need to do a fuel pressure test it should read between 40 and 50 psi. Let it run for awhile and see if the pressure drops. If so I would replace the pump

Fuel problems with GMC truck

Fuel gets pressure from the pump, but if the injector or injectors don't "fire," the fuel won't pass. This can be tested with a noid light plugged into the injector harness. It's a good possibility that the ignition module is bad. It's located under the distibutor cap, or under coil packs on newer versions. Some parts stores can test modules for you.

Make sure the all wires on the steering colum is pluged in tight. You probably don't want to here this but don't settle for anything less than a GM fuel pump. I had to replace one five times in one truck in 6months. If not the fuel pump check fuel regulator. Now on another note if this is the same truck losing power keep in mind the ECM is what pulsates the injectors for fuel to the engine. It could be back to the ground problem

Have you check the injector relay or maybe a fuse for injectors.
