We just finished changing out our rear center brake light for a Kia Optima 2006.5. Took my husband and had to have my help too because you definitely need 4 hands!

Remove the small screw holding the light assembly -- look inside the trunk and find the circle hole with the electrical cord/clip that is directly below the brake light. Then unclip the wires holding the light wiring assembly. My husband removed the clips as stated above (not sure how he did it).

From inside the car, push down on the rear window panel while pulling up and out on the rear break light assembly. There's a metal clip in the front -- push down on the rear window panel and up on the light assembly to get the light past this first. Take care to guide the brake light wires and wire clip around the cut outs that hold the wire in place. There are two bracket-like clips that hold it in place in the rear, nearest the window -- push the light assembly down in the back and tilt up tin the front to get it past those.

Once the light assembly is out, it is easy to swap out the bulb. Repeat all steps to get the light assembly back in place -- guide the back, L-shaped tabs back into the rear window panel and snap the silver clip in place. Go back into the trunk and reattach the light wire clip, replace the screws. Not sure about the other clips. Have 2 adult beverages handy to two celebrate because Kia has designed a really screwed up way to replace this light.

TIP: From inside the trunk, pull open the back seat for a better angle and you can have a second person help if needed.

Rear running lights not working on right side brake lights work ,when pressing brake. for a 2006 kia sedona

Dual filament bulb most likely..... one of the elements in the bulb burnt out. Try replacing the bulb first.

My 06 kia optima... When using my turn signals all the lights flash in and outside the car and they dont work in the back of my car so i have no turn signal

It would seem the indicator circuit and the lighting circuit have become joined together. It could be a complex solution but I suggest you check the rear lights first. Sometimes it is as simple as inadvertently fitting the wrong bulb; fitting a single filament bulb into a holder requiring a double filament bulb and shorting the terminals together.

2008 Kia Optima turn signals/brake light won't always work

This is probably a bad earth connection, Try checking the connection to the rear light cluster for corrosion around the wiring plug, remove it and clean the connections, also check the bulb fittings, clean and replace bulbs into the holder. This is normally where the problem is, and could be due to water getting into the rear lights, good to check for this too.

My rear back lights went out on my 2002 KIA optima. I checked the light bulbs and the fuses in the car and there ok. What else could be the problem

Are you talking taillights or brake lights? Brake lights could be a the switch that is normally activated by the brake pedal itself. Now if its taillights in general then I would check for valtage at the light socket itself for 12 volts. This is to ensure you are getting power to the lights. Sometimes they design them poorly where you have to bend the contacts so the lights will come on. If that is not it, then I would check the wiring harness to ensure that there are no breaks in the wires.

Brake light not working on Kia 2005 Optima tali lights work, bulbs replaced brake light switch replaced but still no brake lights

Check the space gap between the brake lever to the brake switch.

Also check the connector to the brake switch.

You have to look under the dash carefully.

These is not too much room under there.

Just ran you hand along the brake paddle.

Press the brake switch by hand and see is brake light go on.

Check all connectors for corrosion.

How to replace top (3rd) brake light on Kia Optima 2007

This answer makes a mountain out of a mole hill! There are two screws directly under the light accessible from the trunk (in two hole, the wires come out of one of them)- just unscrew and you can manuever out without taking off the whole back panel.

Need to know: how to replace rear-signal-bulb for Kia Optima 2006.5

We have 2007 and I suppose they would be about the same for that task.

Check other turn signal so as to validate location of one to be replaced.

Open trunk and look tword the side that has the problem. You will see a door with latch.

Turn latch and panel door will "fall" off. There, you will see the socket for bulb. Turn counter (or whatever) slowy to unlock "tabs."

Pull out whole socket slowly. Twist bulb out and take to part store for correct replacement ($3 - 4 dollars for 2).

Actually, it is a pretty easy task to perform
