2004 Lincoln LS misfire P0355 Ignition coil E

I have the same car, I bought new

You don't need a shop to work on that issue

You go to Rock Auto.Com & buy about 6 Wells
COP Ignition Coils for about $50 verse $70 at parts store

You only need a 7mm socket to remove the coil covers &
one screw holding any coil you wish to change

I realize you don't have professional tools as I do,or all the
experience with the LS coil issues

I have replaced coils based on a code, which should be PO 301 thru
PO308, not the 355 & letter stuff, although there the same thing, just not
on an LS

I have used scan tool software in Mode #06 to find bad coils

The third & most time consuming way, is what you do & I have had
to do also & the reason the dealers & shops can't resolve the issues
at times

You start with a new coil in the cyl with the PO Code

If you get codes again or many codes & you will,you replace the old
coil & walk the new one to another cyl

Why--because a really bad coil will act up whenever it wants to,once
ever 3 weeks,2 weeks,at every stop light one day & then gone for weeks

I have seen people on this site spend up to $2500 at a dealer with no fix,
when one 50 dollar coil & half hour of your time was the fix

A bad coil will put you into ETC Failsafe & you can't go over 6 mph,that
is the way the system is designed

Better yet- for another $1200 a dealer installs a new throttle body for
no reason ,other than they don't understand the very product they sell
& service

Engine Code PO 300 and PO 316 came up when running diagnostic

P0300 is random multiple cylinder misfire and P0316 is misfires detected on start up. This is an ignition related issue. I would check the ignition system and tune up condition and proceed from there also if you have access to a sanner with live data capability check that you have and RPM reading when cranking the engine and the times it deosnt want to start this would indicate an issue with the crank sensor

'99 olds 88 diagnosed PO 446 evap vent control problem

Your code means:

P0446 onepx.gif EVAP Canister Purge Vent Blocked

Some of the possible causes:

EVAP vent fresh air hose is clogged, kinked or restricted
EVAP Vent solenoid is contaminated, damaged or has failed
FTP sensor is out-of-calibration, damaged or "skewed"
PCM has failed

All tough thing for a lay person to check. You don't have to take it to the dealer, any repair garage that has the proper equipment can fix this for you.

2005 Taurus Program Codes PO 300 and PO 316

May need to clean the egr valves because if one is stuck then the other bank would be enriched to make up the difference .In order to reset the computer when your done is unhook battery and then reconnect. But realize some radios are subject to needing a code to make them work again because of a theft sensor. Here are some a few sensors and what happens when the don't work right.

ECT sensor
Potential Symptoms

Symptoms of a P0118 could include:

* Very poor fuel economy
* A no start condition
* Vehicle may start, but run very poorly, blowing black smoke, running very rough and misfiring
* Illumination of MIL

TPS sensor

Symptoms of a P0121 trouble code could include:

* Malfunction Indicator Lamp
(MIL) illumination (Check Engine Light or Service Engine Soon light)
* Intermittent stumble on acceleration or deceleration
* Blows black smoke on acceleration
* No start

EGR valve

Usually a fault in the control circuit, will leave no noticeable symptoms other than the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination. However, if the EGR control solenoid
is stuck open due to debris, etc. the code may be accompanied by misfire under acceleration, rough idle, or engine dying altogether.

You will more than likely not notice any drivability problems, although there may be symptoms such as a lack of power, detonation (spark knock), and/or a hesitation/surge on acceleration.

A code P0171 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

* The MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty. Note: The use of "oiled" air filters may cause the MAF to become dirty if the filter is over-oiled. There is also an issue with some vehicles where the MAF sensors leak the silicone potting material used to protect the circuitry.
* There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor.

These are the main ones
God Bless Greg
