Question about 1998 Audi A6
this audi either will not idle on startup without pressing the accelerator or idles rough missing and a big hissing sound round the intake manifold.
Q is there a cold start hole or something that makes this hissing noise or do you think its the gasket or a crack in the intake? I haven't found a workshop manual yet before I start dismantling this thing and discover the problem, only had this car one day as yet but need to get it ready for roadworthy and a car that stalls on the road as soon as foot comes off the throttle will not pass roadworthy. Engine runs fine once under throttle.

SOURCE: High Pitched noise
I had a high pitch noise, didn't sound like it came from the "underside". Turns out it was one of fans that had little chips in the blades? My Audi dealer replaced it, and it's fine now.
