Question about 2001 Suzuki Xl 7

1 Answer

Replaced battery I replaced the battery in my 2001 Suzuki XL-7, now the car will start but will not stay started. It is almost like it is not getting any gas. When we drove it to the auto store it was fine. Any ideas?

I am having the same problem with my 2002 Suzuki XL7 and I just bought it from a buy here pay here place.... Now I am stuck with this problem until I can figure out what is causing it and I can afford to fix it. Ugh!! I hope you figure out what it is.

When I let off the gas and hit the brake my car is dying, as is yours and it seems as if it is not getting enough gas, but I can not be sure.

If the battery is out long enough, the emissions control computer may have lost it's mind. I haven't had that happen on my XL-7 yet but last year it happened on the Miata while it was in winter storage. The Miata shop manual had this two page instruction set that I had to go through to get the engine to run right again (and pass the emissions testing). Get your hands on a real Suzuki shop manual set (NOT Chiltons, they are just general reference). If this is a possibility, the real shop manual will have a "reset" procedure I am sure.

Car is turning over but not starting.

I don't know your car,but the condition could be caused by excess moisture getting into the distributor or the coil, or wires to both. If you can pull the distributor cap, check the top for condensation. Use WD-40 to spray over the moisture and dispel the moisture.

Suzuki xl 7 2006 neutral switch

this is the PRNDL switch , prindle,
sure neutral works, you never started in neutral so it never wore out
and is the first test. to this page.
he PRNDL switch is bad, the park contacts are burned up, they all do that , when old, all.
you have only 2 choices, a new switch (best) or take yours off
dismantle it, (done many) and clean it and see if the contacts inside
can be recovered. some can , some cant.,
wear and damage have no limits.
only looking finds the truth in every case, in tests.

btw , suzuki will charge you 2 times what its worth to buy one.
so get one from NAPA, or other find stores. (not the zone)
