Question about Hyundai Motor 2004 Sonata
Wife drove into car wash and when water started to spray, car died and will not restart!
SOURCE: WONT START ONLY WITH CHARGE
It is either going to be a wiring problem bettween the voltage regulator and the battery or the car has what is called. Voltage regulator in electronics. In this case the regulator is in the computer and not the alternator. Changing the alternator will have no effect if this is the case. Many cars have this in the computer. You need a manual to find this out for sure.

something else to watch for, not saying this is your problem, but our hy. Excel used to stop on the road for no reason......turned out to be the contacts in the ignition switch. It's a very cheaply made plasticy (is that a word?) switch and the contacts were loose and sloppy. Pulled switch apart and overhauled it and Bob's ya uncle

Fuel pump, you have to have press in the rail to fire all injectors- she will run on ether but not good for her. Ck your pump and any related fuses, relays, wiring.

That sounds more like lack of fuel pressure due to worn pump, plugged fuel filter, or defective fuel pressure regulator. The engine computer should be read with a rented scanner to determine the area of the trouble. Don't just replace parts until it runs--usually, a very expensive repair process. If the engine uses a rubber timing belt to the cams, the mileage is about right to change it (them) too (as a precaution). Hope this helps!
