We found the interior light switch by the front door hinge was not releasing and the interior lights stay on. Also note that after the battery has run down the electronic module has glitch that prevents the car from starting and there is a trick about turning the key and holding it in that postion for a couple of minutes to rest the electronics?

Causes of excessive current drain in late model vehicles include things like lights that remain on (trunk and hood lights, interior lights, brake lights, etc.) and also relays that may be stuck on, or modules that are not going to sleep or powering down.
A fuel pump relay that sticks on may keep the fuel pump running after the engine is shut off. A switch or relay that powers a rear window defogger can stick on, pulling current from the battery after the ignition is off. An electronic suspension module, abs module or keyless entry module may remain active long after it should have powered down.
An accessory such as a DVD player, game console or cell phone charger left plugged into a rear seat power receptacle may be pulling power from the battery. So before you spend a lot of time trying to figure out where the amps are disappearing, check all of the vehicle's power receptacles to see if something is plugged in that may be using power. The battery can be checked with a voltmeter using the aMp selection. 50 amps is to high. A mechanic can help you with this procedure.

Why is my new battery running down while car is parked and turned off?

Check all the dome lights or the light in the trunk. One of them is on all the time. Or something else is on or shorted. Take out one fuse each night, to see what circuit is running something. You might have a bad alternator.

Torque drive or pulling under acceleration

To test if the car is automatic put in a low gear and accelerate hard and see what way it pulls. Then let off accelerator fast and it pulls the opposite way something is loose in suspension. Bushings, brackets, welds ect. I cant think of anything in the trans that would cause a pull.

Sounds like you have something pulling the battery down. Is the radio still factory? If not my first suspect is an after market radio. If all is still factory, no radio, no alarm system, no back seat chargers, dvd players. Your alternator may be the cause, alternators have diodes that can cause a "leak" or a small draw on the battery. If you have a volt/amp meter you may be able find this. If not take the car to auto parts store where they can remove the positive cable and read the amp pull, in between the battery post and the cable end. You will have a very small amount due to the radio clock. but if your reading is in the 1 - 3 amps that is too much and causing the batt. to go dead after 3 days. Disconnect the largest wire on the alt. and read the amps again, if it has gone down and reads normal, that is the alternator diodes leaking, and shes bad. Hope this fixya up.

You problem may be the alternator...It may be putting out voltage, but not enough amperage...voltage doesn't charge the battery, the current(ampoerage) does. have the alt checked. then if its good, make sure you have no accessories that are plugged in or left on in the car

It sounds like your alternator is not charging your battery properly. I would have that tested.

My 2000 ford ranger and something draining battery

bad alternator possible or bad battery..even though its new that battery can be bad. I would take a volt meter and with the engine running check the volts of the battery..If the volts are 12 you need to replace alternator, if volts are 14 you need to check the battery. to check the battery hold the volt meter to the battery and have someone start the car..while the starter is cranking battery volts should not drop below 10volts.if they do your battery is bad.

Hyundai Santa Fe battery dies after 2 days with no use

Hi, I have had similar intemittent dead\low battery problems with my 2008 CDX+.

The garage could never find anything wrong with the charging system, battery or drain. I bought a replacement battery, jump start power pack, battery tester and battery charger, in total costing hunders of pounds in an attempt to resolve the problem.

I was on the point of selling it when one day I heard the roof mounted DVD player making noises when I hadn't switched it on (I never switch it on). After disconnecting it the car started perfectly for months. After reconnecting it the issue came back, however I could never recreate the problem at the dealership as it was intermittent, and they had it for days. Eventually the DVD player took in a disc and refused to eject it. This was enough to have it replaced under warranty. Unfortunately the new one took about 4 months to come in and I have never recieved my disc back.

The new DVD player seems to have helped, however I can still report that in the 6 months or so since fitting I have had one of the new overhead bulbs blow and the battery has been dead on 2 occassions. The last occassion was yesterday and we had driven the car fine the day before.

I now carry the power pack in the car at all times, however as this is my wife's car she is concerned about being stranded with our new baby. My thoughts have once again turned to changing cars (new diesel auto crv 2010?) which is a shame as the Santa Fe ticks the boxes in so many other areas.

Hope this helps. ?

2 new batteries and something in my 98 skylark seems to drain

how is your alternator working. have this tested for free at you local part store, they will even take it off for you in some places and put it back on. Also most good autopart stores have the computer to test your system and give you a free diagnostic report so they can sell you the parts. good luck
