My guess is you have a corroded wire (that has shorted out the connection); known problem for this vehicle.

retract my prior statement. There is a seperate relay. It is close to the head relay. Relay has black/white wire and yellow that runs into the switch. Good luck.

Can't get power to foglights on my 2003 Explorer

Power is applied to the fog lamp switch which is a separately controlled part of the main light switch. When the fog lamp switch is turned on, power is applied to the fog lamp relay in the battery junction box which closes to turn on the fog lamps IF 20A FUSE 19 and 15A FUSE 44 in the BJB are OK. Setting the multifunction switch to HI closes the high beam relay in the BJB, removing power from the fog lamps and directing it through 20A FUSE 46 in the BJB to the high beam lamps. In other words, you can have fog lamps or high beam lamps but not both at the same time

the multifunction switch is set to HI, the high beam relay in the battery junction box closes

Why do my fog lights stay on 2010 equionx

Is the Service Vehicle Soon light illuminated on the dash? If so, the BCM has detected an electrical issue in the wiring circuit to the fog lights. If the SVS light is not illuminated, it is most likely the fog light relay is stuck in the on position. Open the hood and find the fuse center located on the driver side at the front shock tower. Remove the cover, look at the schematic on the underside of the cover and identify the fog lamp relay. Remove the relay and see if the lights go out. If the lights go out, you may need to replace the relay. You can substitute a like relay in the fuse center to verify relay is bad before buying a new one.
Good luck.

My fog lights won't turn on Nissan sentra GEX 2002

There are several things that can cause your fog lamps to not work. The fog lamp circuits need to be diagnosed. Your entire fog lamp circuit can be tested at the plug for the fog lamp relay located n the relay box.

PIN 5 on the relay should have battery power at all times. This power comes from Fuse #43 (15 Amp) in the fuse and fusible link box in the engine compartment. If there is power at this pin, the fuse and the circuit between the fuse and the relay is good.

PIN 3 on the relay goes to the fog lamp bulbs. There should be continuity to ground through the bulbs on this pin. If you have continuity to ground, connecting a jumper wire between PIN 5 and PIN 3 should make the fog lamps come on unless there is a short circuit to ground, which will cause Fuse #43 to blow. If there is no continuity to ground on this pin, the problem is either that BOTH fog lamp bulbs are burned out or there is a break in the wire between the relay and the bulbs.

PIN 1 Is the battery power for the primary coil in the relay. This power comes from the headlamp switch and power is only supposed to be present here when the headlamps are on and the dimmer switch is on LOW BEAM. If power is not present at this pin, the problem is a bad headlamp switch or an open circuit between the headlamp switch and the relay.

PIN 2 Is the control circuit for the primary relay coil. The control circuit should have continuity to ground when the fog lamp switch is set to the ON position. If there is no continuity to ground with the fog lamp switch on, the problem is a faulty fog lamp switch, an open between the relay and the fog lamp switch, or an open between the fog lamp switch and ground E37 (right front of engine compartment) and ground F7 (left rear of engine compartment) Please note: This circuit has redundant grounds....if one ground is not making good contact, the other ground can still make the circuit work.

PIN 4 on the relay is not used.

If all of the circuits/pins are working as described above, replace the relay.

That is pretty much it... That is all you really need to know to get your fog lamp circuits diagnosed. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Headlamps not working, fuses o.k., bulbs ok, replaced switch ok 98 chevy cavalier w/ daytime running lights . 2 relays on harness between headlamps one is for fog lamps, not sure of the other , cannot get...

are your daytime running lamps working. if they are according to the schematic there are 4 relays, fog lamp, fog lamp cut off, isolation, and daytime running lamp; 2 fuses: right and left, that supply volts to the headlamps. it's a little confusing though, because these schematics might have some mistakes. anyway, it looks like the drl relay.grounds the headlamps when the drl control in the micro processor located in the instrument cluster senses the headlamps have been turned on. this trips the relay and 12vdc is supplied. the dlr might be bad. otherwise, i would think you have a hardwire or connector problem.

Need a fuse box diagram to wire in fog lights

Fog lamps are installed on the front bumper. The switch is located to the left of the steering column on the dash panel. The fog lamps are turned off by the circuit relay when the high beam driving lamps are turned on. The circuit relay is located on the right front wheelhouse panel near the blower motor.

Good luck, and remember rated this help.
Removal & InstallationFog Lamp Element
See Figure 1
558610d.gif
Fig. 1: Exploded view of a fog lamp assembly

  1. Remove the lamp stone shields, the four bezel attaching screws, and the bezel.
  2. Remove the reflector assembly from the lamp body.
  3. Remove the bulb holder from the assembly. Remove the element from the bulb.

DO NOT handle elements with your bare hands, always handle with a clean cloth. Oil from your hands will cause the element to fail.
  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Fog Lamp Switch
The fog lamp switch is removed and installed by simply prying the switch from the instrument panel and unplugging the electrical connector.
FOGLAMP BEAM ADJUSTMENT

  1. Position the vehicle on a level surface, facing a wall approximately 25 feet away. Remove the lamp stone shields and loosen the adjustment nuts.
  2. Turn the fog lamps ON and adjust as follows:
    1. Distance between the light beam centers should be equal to the distance between the lamp assemblies on the bumper.
    2. Height of the light beams on the wall should be 4 inches less than the center of the lamp assemblies when mounted on the bumper.
  3. Install all previously removed items after turning OFF the fog lamps.
