Question about Volkswagen Beetle

1 Answer

My car alarm goes off at various times for no apparent reason after I lock the car. The driver side door latch was replaced and that did not help. What could be causing this problem?

When i lock the car using my fob sometimes the alarm goes off so I have to lock it manually. Sometimes the car wont lock at all using the fob, but will unlock the boot and doors! When driving home the the cabin light sometimes flickers on and off!

If anyone has any ideas what the problem could be that would be great

    Thanks

Hi if the door latch has not been put together properly it can trigger the alarm system if this was happening before the lock fitted is is more likley the problems elsewhere if the alarms got a sensitivity switch back it off a bit if not check the alarms wiring to make sure the connectors are connected securley after that its down to the alarm yates210456

Could be a bad BCM/Security module or a bad door latch. Try opening the passenger side first. Reach in and unlock the drivers side. If it starts, replace the drivers side latch, check wiring first though. Have the BCM codes read.

Driver door closed but door alarm and lock keep going off?

Sounds like the door latch is not closing all the way, Try spraying some WD40 into the latch in the door where it hits the striker post. Hold the door handle up and bump the door shut and open while holding the handle up on the out side several times, This should loosen the latch up and the door should close and latch. The more you spray and work the door the better it should get. If not the latching mechanisim may need replaced. I hope I have help you sovle the alarm problem.

You will need to remove the latch assembly shown in the picture below. You can either replace it or try to fix it. It is apparently jammed internally if I understand that you cannot even turn it with the key. Without having the latch in my hand, I cannot tell you how to repair it. When you look up the part online, be sure to get the one that goes with power locks. Sorry I cannot help more with this kind of question. :-(

2003 VW Jetta ''door open'' alarm goes off while driving

The door latch located in the door panel has a micro switch built into it assembly. It is what detects an open door. A new latch is about $150. If you could find a shop to replace it for you. You could also try buying some plastic-safe contact cleaner/lubricant and spraying the latch assembly out and opening/closing the door a few times to work it in.

Door locks not working properly.

one of the front door latches is out of adjustment or bad. when you lock it at the trunk try the front doors to see if they might still open when the alarm is set if so that is your bad latch. bad news is to replace it you will need to tear down the entire inside of door

Same here. What I do is lock all doors using the button on the driver's door before opening the door, then open the driver's door and lock it manually. That seems to keep it disarmed. I believe it has to be the driver's door for this to work, but I don't know for sure.

My car alarm goes off for no reason

I have the same problem with my Z3 alarm going off, a local BMW specialist has traced it to the pitch sensor which has been damaged due to a water leak, the wires are also corroded. They have quoted £200 to fix it, but advise that the water leak is sealed first because it'll just get damaged again. I've had a look round and it appears the water is getting in by the off side light cluster via the boot gutter.

Alarm won't go off

One of your door latches may be bad. Open the drivers door and arm the alarm with remote, Does your alarm honk once? If it does that door latch is faulty and needs to be replaced.
