2000 Kia Sephia Power Steering

I have recently broken my car's power steering and do not have the money to have it fixed immediately. I am physically strong enough to steer my car in this condition without endangering myself or anyone else. What I need to know is: when steering my car w/o the power steering am I doing damage to other components that will cause me more serious problems than I already have? I would be very happy for any advice anyone could offer. I imagine this question applies to many makes and models.

Sincerely,

Barkmulch

Power steering may seem like a luxury you could live without (as if) but you could be putting yourself in danger. A car designed to have power steering can be very hard to steer without it. If it jerks suddenly, you could lose control of the vehicle and end up in a very bad place.
check the fluid reservoir and belt. Get it looked at ASAP

The car had been designed to be driven with power steering, if power steeriung is broken, the car will obviously be less manageable, and less responsive, however it is unlikey that you can cause any damage , by driving the car with power steering non functional.

    and then there is this..

it should be noted, as long as you do not has a steer-by-wire power
steering system (NOT common) then you can still drive the car with no
power steering, it will just be difficult, as long as you aren't
driving a big truck or suv, you SHOULD be able to still drive it

How do you tighten (which bolts)the fan belt and power steering belt

Hello lubyamanda and thank you for asking your question here on fixya.com.

I have actually written a general information article that will walk you through the general process of changing the fan belt on your
2000 Kia Sephia. It will also point you to the resources you need for getting the diagrams of how the belt needs to go back on. Belts usually cost less than $20 and take a few minutes to put them on.

Power Steering Pressure Hose

Simple. Remove bolt from pump. Remove 2 10mm bolts that anchor it to the frame. Then disconnect it where the 2 hoses meet just behind the alternator. Takes less than 3 minutes without air tools.

Power steering fluid gone in 2000 kia after filling up this morning.

Hi mdenny67,

You obviously have a leak somewhere (and a pretty bad one at that). Check around the reservoir (where you fill it up) for obvious leakage. Park your car somewhere that you'll be able to spot it on the ground, then move the car. This will give you an idea of where on the car it's leaking from. After this is done, look under the car in the area it's leaking from and we'll see about some repair instructions after that.

Hope I've helped, don't forget to rate.

I need to rplace tke power steering hose on a 2000 kia sephia

we tried fixing the old power steering hose, finally just had it taken off and another made up by an auto shop, cost $65 to have one made. very easy to fix, just undo at each end. this is a pressure hose though so make sure and get the same kind made.
