I have same problem, I replaced 1 sensor the code was the air/fuel ratio sensor, $235.00...didn't fix the problem, so I took it to a dealer (Lexus) cost $90.00 to check and they said I had 3 sensors bad cost $1090.00 to fix, car is running fine. The codes they gave me was P0171 fuel trim lean mass air flow sensor ...P1130 AFR Bank 1 sensor 1...P1135 AFR Bank 1 sensor 1...P1153 AFR Bank 2 sensor 1....The car is still running fine, and I wish I could find the sensors somewhere else besides Lexus..I could change them myself..Good Luck with yours. If there is anybody out ther that knows where I can find aftermarket sensors please let me know...Thanks

The check engine light has nothing to do with the oil, water etc. it signals that a fault has occurred in the engines electronic controls and it has failed a test of some system that the cars computer runs every few minutes while the engine is running, it can be one of a 100 different systems that made the light come on, take the car to a Kragen Auto parts store or another chain parts store like it and ask them to run a OBD 2 system test (it's free), this will retrieve the trouble code(s), post the code(s) back on this thread and I will explain what it will take to repair.

I had the engine light and VSC light come on my Lexus RX 300 also after an oil change and air filter replacement. I read online that sometimes they may knock off a hose or something when they change the filter.

I took the car back to the place that did the work and they did find a hose off from the air filter section so they fixed it and reset the light, and all is fine now!

ENGINE LIGHT ON A 2000 LEXUS 300 RX STAYS ON

If you go to one of your local auto parts stores they will pull up your cars codes for you and tell you what the problem or problems are. Write down the codes and get back to me with the codes. They are usually a P followed by four numbers 0000. This will give me or someone else an idea of what the problem is. Don't panic, it may be something as simple as a loose gas cap. Please let me know what you find out. GOOD LUCK.

1999 Lexus RX check engine light - lexus rx300

If it hasn't been scanned fo codes, the most common problem relates to gas caps. Evaporative emissions systems. When a cap gets old it will not function correctly. Consequently the check engine light will come on. Do not buy an after market cap. My experience with aftermarket caps have been very poor. The majority of times I tried after market caps on customer cars, I got return problems. Factoy caps seem to resolve that issue. Once you replace the cap, the light should go out in a few cycles. It's a cheap investment if it's the original cap anyway, it'll save you the cost of scanning and the gamble is almost 70% right.

Have an OBII scan (fault scan) done. Scan will identify what triggered light. Any good parts store (Autozone, Advance, etc..) will do scan FREE

Major auto parts stores have code readers and will read out your codes for free. The engine light indicates that at least one code is waiting to be read.

Change oil, oil filter & air filter for 2000 Saturn LW

That car should use 5W30 oil, check on the filler cap, or owners manual. If you are in freezing weather, use a synthetic oil. The Change oil light is reset by turning the key on, then depressing the gas pedal to the floor 3 times. The Check Engine light is another subject and a repair shop will need to diagnose and recommend repairs. If it has a 3.0 V6 its not that user friendly. the Cadillac Catera uses that engine.

Rx 300 2001 vsc and check engine light

most likely the problem lies with an oxygen sensor. The most common one to fail is on the passenger side of the engine. you will need a special socket to change it. Be sure to put the vehicle on jackstands. It should take less than two hours-start to finish.
