If the battery is good, you have an issue with your battery cables or with your starter.
Check the battery cables and starter cables first.
Check your starter.
If not working properly need to be replaced or fixed

You can reset the engine light by unplugging battery contacts, but that won't be a good solution, as if there is a problem, the main computer will just ignore the problem.

The best thing to do is going to a mechanic and having the car checked.
At the garage they will connect the car main control unit to a code reader, and find more information about what the problem is.

The car engine is still quite young (about 40K miles), and the check engine light may be on event for some minor problem (Eg. often you get Co2 sensor on), but the only way to find out is having the car connected to a code reader.

Go to the nearest qualified garage and have a checkup.

Hi,

I would first suggest this, you can take your car to any Auto zone and the will run a free diagnostic test and tell you exactly what the check engine light warning is referring to. It the simplest and cheapest first step you can take.

Check battery and see if it can be fully charged. If there is an indicator on the battery it should be green or measure the voltage with the engine off and see if it is close to 12Vdc. If the battery tests good there could be a problem with the electrical wiring or a bad device that draws current when the car is off. Glove box light gould be on, trunk light stays on etc...

Abs light 95 thunderbird

Lights that stay on after car starts is of concern. Its common for most lights check engine, oil, etc to be on preignition. If air bag system (ABS) were to stay on, you would want to get it checked out because it basically means if you were to get in a fender bender it probably is not going to deploy due to attention needed with malfunction.

2006 CTS Engine light on.

Whenever this warning light or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating that the systems control module (or the system sensor in the case of lights like low oil pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected a fault, it then disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM, SRS, TPMS, MIL, CEL and BCM faults and others) as long as the light is on. You must now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool and "scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for the problem(s)

Legend of Abbreviations. ABS Anti-lock brake system. TCS Traction control system, TCM Transmission control module, SRS Supplemental restraint system, BCM Body control module. TPMS Tire Pressure Monitor System, MIL Malfunction Indicator Lamp, CEL Check Engine Light.

check engine has nothing to do with your starting
