SOURCE: Cant find there trunk release button or switch for
A trunk release button is not included in most Cavalliers. The cavalier came standard with electronic trunk release from the keyless entry keyring. Otherwise you need to use the key.

Did you find the fuse that the owners manual tells you is 4 the trunk lite?? If its not the fuse and the light it has 2 B the wiring somewhere. Check the bulb socket with a volt meter to make sure you have voltage at the socket itself with the trunk hood up obviously. It could also be the actuator switch. Good luck!!
Generally there is an access area on the reverse side of the trunk lid, or the lens of the light itself can be removed by taking out some screws. I looked in your vehicle's service manual and it doesn't even list that light in the do-it-yourself area. You could also just call the dealership service department and ask.
Here's the link if you want to check the manual out yourself.
Every car is different. I'd suggest you check your owners manual, or take it into your local Nissan dealer.
There might be something in the trunk like a cover into the light. If you can, have someone step on the brake pedal, and you watch for any light shining through the back of the trunk (by the lights).
try looking at the wiring from the light and fallow it back to the fuse, sounds like a short in the wires if not change you fuse, you can find it by looking in your owners manual,
Its not by the latch..
It was in the middle, like right under the back windshield in trunk
