Try to check the bearing, sometimes they will fall out of place when you reinstall, that happen to me on a mustang. that may not be the problem but its a suggestion.

Cant find where to fill datsun 120y gear box

if it is a manual gearbox there should be a plug on the side of the gearbox,it could be either side, it is oil level as well as the filler plug, you will have to access it from under the vehicle, just screw it out & add oil until it runs out of the hole, then replace the plug.......hope this helps.....cheers.

Hi < i have a 1997 Ford Aspire . It appears to have a noisey clutch. When disengaged & in neutral its noisey . When depressed fully the noise goes . Is this a thrust bearing noise ?

You guessed it......this is the thrust bearing......when you put your foot on the clutch its puts this thrust bearing under load......and when released it is spinning on the shaft with no load on it....

bad news, you have to pull the gearbox out to get to it......

check the clutch whilst it's off, so you don't have to take the gearbox off again...if it fails later

The clutch in my 1983 Chevy truck rattles when I push it in

the thrust (release) bearing is worn, not a big deal in itself as it will last a long time like this, but if the noise annoys you the bearing is very cheap, though to change it means removing or pulling back the gearbox so if the clutch is not new you could replace the whole lot as easily while in there

Clutch is noisy, when i depress the clutch the noise goes away

this noise is caused by a noisy clutch throw-out/release bearing, that is the part that presses against the pressure plate and disengages the clutch disk, the transmission must be removed to replace this part, so it is best to replace the clutch assembly at the same time, the labor for both is the same, about 5 hours

How to change a clutch kit

it will be the thrust bearing, its a ring bearing that allows the clutch fork to press on the pressure cover without rubbing the fork away.

Easy to change, and if the clutch itself is ok, you can just pull the thrust bearing off and slide a new one on. Usually you only have to separate the gearbox enough to get at the bearing, not taking it right off, though you may have to pull the gearbox right off to get it off the end of he shaft depending on the shape of the bellhousing.

How easy is it to replace a noisy clutch thrust bearing. 53 plate Ford Focus 1.6 petrol zetec.

The thrust bearing is normally a part of a new clutch kit.Comprises pressure plate, clutch plate and thrust bearing. You will need to remove the gear box to change the bearing. The bearing basically slides onto the gearbox shaft. Recommend changing all three rather than just the beaing. You may want to get quotes from garages as dealers are expensive.

hi, the problem your having sounds like the thrust bearing that pushes the clutch on and off has started to colapse you can buy these thrust bearings on their own but as you have to take the gearbox off its best to replace the clutch and pressure plate as well.

If you buy a clutch kit you will get the clutch and the pressure plate and also the thrust bearing they are all easy to replace but the hard part is removing the gearbox for this you will need two people as it is heavy and can be hard to line back up when putting the gearbox back onto the spline.
You will also need to buy a clutch alligning tool witch keeps the clutch dead center whilst you are tightening up the pressure plate.
If you are unsure what you are doing then leave it to a pro but if you are going to do the repair yourself then make sure you get some cleaning fluid like alcohol based cleaner as the pressure plate has an oil on it so as to stop it rusting whilst its on the shelf in the car spares shop.

Let me know if you have any questions and ill be glad to assist you further ok
