Question about 1989 Honda CRX

1990 crx honda 1.6 16 valve at idle good but serges like crazy till about 3500 rpm then is good just built bottom end to match top had engine apart

    i have a89 crx dx model automatic and the idle surges when i put it in drive up to 2500 to 3000 rpms? how do i solve that is it a timing issue?

My 1989 Honda CRX the idle jumps when I push on the clutch what causes this

Does your transmission and clutch work perfectly fine, no noise or any problem? I can't imagine why the idle would jump from dis-engaging the clutch from the flywheel. When you do that, the transmission input shaft is no longer turning with the flywheel- it becomes stationary. If the input shaft had worn gears or a worn bearing, I suppose it could put a little load on the engine, make it work harder to maintain rpm's. So when you push the clutch in, that load from turning a worn bearing or gear disappears and your idle increases. How's that for a crazy solution?

Don't know much about crx, but I assume the computer controls idle? If it does, the ecu would have no compensation in idle speed for pushing the clutch pedal down.

The most likely cause for this to happen on a 1990 Honda CRX is the same as the most likely cause for this to happen on a 2002 Lincoln Navigator.

I have a honda civic vtec vti 1992 when i start it it idles at 5800rpms i have change the iac valve and the map sensor what could it be i have no trouble codes showing

honda prelude 1990 4 spd manual trans ac ls model. accelorates normally and in between all gear changes engine does not slow down to 1000 rpm it remains at 2000 rpm.

I would suggest an ignition module. If it is a rough idle at startup I would check the throttle position sensor. You can check that by starting the car and unplugging the TPS. If the car runs differently then chances are it is working fine.

ok in new zealand we call it the honda idle.
it's not bad, but what we've found out is that it maybe you air flow meter.
get some airflow cleaner and clean the air flow meter and all intake parts. worst comes to worst replace.

Idles good but,above 1300 rpm serges evenly at about 3800 no more serge 1990 crx 16 valve 1.6 very strong serge

Have you replaced the fuel filter? if not, it could very well be the problem

Engine problem

You might want to check for any possible vacuum leaks from the back of the intake manifold. A severe enough vacuum leak will cause the engine to spit and sputter. You may also want to check the egr valve stuck in the open position as well. Also caused by possible vacuum issues. Vacuum within the intake will increase with accelaration and if you have a cracked line it could cause the symptoms you are describing.
