My1991 mazda 626 will not rev up over 3000 rpm

DO YOU MEAN WHEN YOU ARE ACCELERATING? Or do you mean sitting and reving the engine? If you are just reving the engine in park then the rev limiter is kicking in.

Engine rattling noise when reving above 2599 RPM's

sounds like crank noise....very serious...

but less serious to fix then to fix after it goes.

if could also be the vanos, variable valve timing. but at 2500 i'd say crank, especially if it has that rattle tone. that sound is a wearing connecting rod bearing. when it goes, the engine basically blows up and the insides try to escape through the engine wall...that destroys the bottom end, when that happens, stuff sometimes also goes up into the head, that destroys the top end.

then you would need a long block.

BTW: stop revying it above 2500. you need an engine job....seriously maybe cheaper to get a replacement engine from the junk yard.

98 dodge intrepid 3.2 engine. engine serges at 3,000 rpm and will not get above 3,000 rpm. also will not start with cam sensor plugged in. new sensor

first symptom sounds like mass air flow sensor, cam angle sensor may be moving the timing out of startble range,,check timing belt for condition and verify timing marks on cams and crank at top dead center, may have jumped a tooth,

200 Pontiac Grand Am over 3500 RPM loss of power

on almost all gm cars after 96 the engines were governed to not free rev over 4000rpm. when in gear and power braking the rpms stay lower cause of the load on engine. when reving above 3500 rpms the computer cuts back the timing and fuel to reduce engine damage if left to free rev. hop that helps.
