On the side of your transmission will be a switch with several wires
coming out of it. This is your reverse switch that turns on your
reverse lights and most likely needs to be replaced

of course changing a brake pedal switch will not help in a reversing light problem
they are two totally different circuits
check for a damaged wire at the reverse light switch or bulb holder for the reversing bulbs for a dead short
as for the rest check the IGN fuse under the bonnet
if the lights not working check the fuse with a test light, if they appeared to be good remove the bulb and find a good ground to clip your test light with the pointed end of the test light touch the center led witch should be positive if it dont light up check the ground then the wires it self there may be a short or a bad ground and change the bulb if you cant see weather its good or bad and sometime you have to scrape inside or twist the bulb i hope you get some results
There is a switch on the transmission with two wires on it. It is the reverse light switch. When the two wires are bridged together with the key on the reverse lights should work if the switch itself is defective. It is quite easy to replace, it just unscrews from the transmission if it is a stick shift, if it is an automatic transmission the switch I believe is part of the inhibitor switch and is more costly and difficult to replace.
They are full of baloney. Ther's a switch underneath the shift lever that engages when you shiht into reverse. The mechanic probably loosened it when reconnecting the shift linkage to the new tranny.
Thay may have knocked the switch out of position, which would cause the lights to go on in some other gear than reverse. That would be the first thing I check.
