Question about 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I need to replace the window crank handle (manual)

Hi, One of my friends was in the back seat of my jeep and was rolling down the window and snapped off the rotating knob on the crank handle. I purchased a new handle, but I can't tell how to get the old one off and the new one on.

Of course, you can't just replace the knob, the whole piece needs to be replaced.

It *looks* to me that it's just held on by friction (the replacement has a star-shaped indentation) so I suspected that the old one will come off if I give it a good pull and the new one would push on. But I've tugged on the installed crank handle and it's not budging. I'm worried about forcing it. I am pretty handy, but I also know that violence and technology are not good bedfellows and I don't want to force it.

The replacement is in one piece - it doesn't look like it snaps apart and it doesn't look like there is a place for a screw.

Has anyone does this?

I - I - love you. I've been carrying around this stupid crank for 4 years. I'll look at it tonight for the groove and try it this weekend and post back (and rate too). Thank you very much.

You need to remove a horsehoe shape clip behind the handle. Look at the new one, there should be a groove that it snaps into. You can purchase a special tool that slides behind the crank handle and pushes the clip out (only costs a few bucks at parts store), or if u are patient and careful, a couple of small flat screwdrivers placed behind the window crank, u can (but it's tricky) push the clip off. Another method is a piece of wire bent at one end w/ a hook, slide in and hook the closed end of horsehoe clip. good luck! and yes control that brute strength! countrycurt0

Remove citroen c3 rear door panel

Check out how the door panels are attached to the car. Most panels use screws and bolts but others have snap-in fittings. Gather all the tools you need for removing the door panels. If the panel is attached with screws and bolts, you need a screwdriver or ratchet and socket. Car door panels with snap-in fittings are easily removed with a flathead screwdriver.
Locate where the screws and bolts are before starting. These are usually found in the arm rest area, along the bottom or sometimes near the door lights.
Roll down the car door window. Begin removing all screws and bolts that hold the door panel onto the car. If your car has snap-in fittings, pry gently on the bottom corner of the door panel until the fittings pop out.
Remove the power window control panel if your car has power windows. The control panel should pry out easily, and then you unplug the wiring harness from the back and place it to the side.
Use an L pick and flashlight when locating a manual window crank. Look behind the window crank and slide the pick under the edge of the metal clip that holds the crank in place. Remove the clip and pull the crank off.
Remove the door handle by unscrewing the small screw located in the center. Gently pull the door handle out until you see the back of the handle and unclip the rod from the door handle. This should remove the handle unless the handle and door lock are attached, then you just unclip the rod from the lock and remove them both together.
Unscrew the cap off rear upper corner door panel locks. These don't have a rod attaching them to the handle and unscrew separately from the door handle.
Pop the door panel off after you've removed everything. Gently pry on the bottom edge of the door panel until it releases. Pull out and up to completely remove the door panel.

On a 1991 eagle summit, how do i remove the knob for rolling down the window to get the door panel off?

Use a flat head srewdriver to pull the handle away from the door panel, and you will see a C clip that is holding the handle to the window crank shaft. Take another flat screwdriver and pop the C clip out. To reinstall the handle, put the C clip in place on the handle, then gently tap it into position on the window crank, and it will snap on.

Driver's side interior door handle snapped off

there is plastic snaps that attatch the panel to the door all the way around the panel which you can buy a tool to remove the panel without breaking the snaps, the door handle may have a cable hooked to it that releases the latch and it might be stretched causing the handle to pull hard

How to remove door panel for driver and passenger side doors

Hi. This Guide will help you with this issue.

If the panel is attached with screws and bolts, you need a screwdriver or ratchet and socket. Car door panels with snap-in fittings are easily removed with a flathead screwdriver. Begin removing all screws and bolts that hold the door panel onto the car. If your car has snap-in fittings, pry gently on the bottom corner of the door panel until the fittings pop out. Step4 Remove the power window control panel if your car has power windows. The control panel should pry out easily, and then you unplug the wiring harness from the back and place it to the side. Step5 Use an L pick and flashlight when locating a manual window crank. Look behind the window crank and slide the pick under the edge of the metal clip that holds the crank in place. Remove the clip and pull the crank off. Step6 Remove the door handle by unscrewing the small screw located in the center. Gently pull the door handle out until you see the back of the handle and unclip the rod from the door handle. This should remove the handle unless the handle and door lockmag-glass_10x10.gif are attached, then you just unclip the rod from the lock and remove them both together. Step7 Unscrew the cap off rear upper corner door panel locks. These don't have a rod attaching them to the handle and unscrew separately from the door handle. Step8 Pop the door panel off after you've removed everything. Gently pry on the bottom edge of the door panel until it releases. Pull out and up to completely remove the door panel.

Please rate and have a great day:)
