Fuel pump problem,no noise, pressure, starts only by hammering btm tank

Almost went empty, filled next morning.drove to work half-hour away, parked for the day. 8 hrs. later sarted, ran for a minute, stalled. never started again, unless hammerred on bottom of tank while being turned over, only then would run a few seconds run out of gas, so to speak, relays seem to be operational as there is power to the connector at the gas tank.my questions are not in any particular order; is there any fuse link located anywhere i could look orany thing else i could check . there is no whirring noise indicating that the pump is working , there is no pressure at the schrater valve, plese help, this pump was new last christmas.

Hi you need to check the pump at its outlet before it goes to the filter make sure its working if so and theres no fuel pressure at the regulator then the fuel filters blocked if the pumps not pumping which i suspect because you said when you banged on the bottom of the tank it started for a second or two now you have had a pump previous so the question is is the pump gone again and if so whats caused a second pump to go answer is there is something in the tank something blocking the pumps i would suggest take the pump out and test it in some clean fuel and drain the tank and clean it out and also replace the fuel filter best of luck yates210456

Subaru fuel pump

I would be suspicious that you have not been drained . Put say 5 gallons in the tank and see what happens . The next possible problem is the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel pressure sensor that would result in you problem

It sounds like it may be getting burned out. Does the fuel pumps themselves go bad?

I ran out of gas put 5 gallons of gas in the car drove car 2 miles. Filled it up. Went to eat. Then drove car 20 miles. Car sat overnight would not start next morning. Relay was changed. All fuses good....

By running the car out of fuel you may have damaged the fuel pump. You need to perform a fuel pressure test with a pressure gauge to see if the fuel pump is working and is working at the proper pressure. You might check your fuel filter as well. I suspect a bad fuel pump.

Driving my car this morning, slowed down to turn nto driveway and car died. It would start up again right away and then die again after 1-2 sec. Did this 3 times. Sat in car for 10 minutes and it started...

Your fuel filter could be clogged. If you run your truck on empty this will cause the fuel pump to go out, and also the fuel filter to become clogged. Try replacing the fuel filter they're not very exsensive. Truthfuly it sounds like the fuel filter is clogged or you have dirt in you your fuel tank that is getting into your fuel pump. try to fill the truck atleast half full with fuel see if that helps. if so then you need to replace the fuel filter.

I think you should check your battery and alternator. If they both check good you may have a battery draw, something draining the battery over night.Check your doors make sure they are closing like they should.

It sounds like you have some **** in the gas tank that is being drawn to the pickup blocking it.
Have seen this and because it seems so random, it can drive ya nuts.

You might carry a coffee can with you and pull the line from the fuel rail when this happens stick it in the can and just have someone turn the key on for a few seconds.
Beware though, it comes out with force.

Also possible is a failed fuel pressure regulator.
Those aren't expensive and . . . well, not very good either.
