I have a 2001 BMW 325i. Why does my front rims get dirty and the ones in the back stay clean all the time? Is there a problem with the brake pads? Is there anything I should check?

- My BMW's passenger front window wouldn't close. It looked like the whole window was jammed inside of the door. I contacted my dealer and they said I would probably need a new window regulator with motor. Does anyone know how hard is it to install it and where can I get one?
Hi Joanna,
What you are seeing is perfectly normal and occurs on any automobile because the front brakes wear faster than the rear. Notice that when you step on the brake, the weight of the car shifts forward, putting extra stress on the front breaks. Next time in a parking lot, notice the same dirty front wheels of other cars.

- Your best bet is to have this done by BMW because there are usually special tools needed to take the door apart without doing damage. Obviously, they will be able to secure the part. But be prepared to pay dearly because their service does not come cheap. Ask for an estimate before hand.
This is brake dust, since the front brakes do most of the braking they get dusty very fast, to make it worse BMW uses a very soft dust prone brake pad, they stop better but produce much more dust, I guess it is part of the price paid for the ultimate driving experience!
our car does the same and has done so since new cant tell you why but had no brake issues but the front pads seem to need replacing before the back. Its possible you have two different brands or the factory set up is hard wearing rear and soft at the front to compliment the abs.Unless your experiencing brake issues would have to believe no worries

- Might pay to find somebody to take the door panel off and have a look.It could be something simple. The door panel shouldnt give you too much trouble and testing without removing is relatively straight forward but I think somebody with a little mechanical/electrical skill should be able to tell you definitly what the problem is .It could be a simple problem that wouldnt be as expensive as replacing an electric window assembly.

I have a bmw 325i conv. Sometimes the doors lock (including the trunk) and the keys will not open them. After a lot of fiddelling around I've been able to open 1 door or the other but the other door will not open even if the door latch is up. What's the problem & fix.
