Ok the 1st thing to do is change the fluid and filter, while the pan is off look for excess debris from the clutch packs, there will be some stuff in the pan, but if there is allot then the clutches are starting to fail and you will need an overhaul, how many miles on truck, 60,000 is recommended change for trans fluid, also use the latest GM approved Dextron 5 fluid, it is the best around and makes old transmissions shift much better, I used it in my 96 Corvette and what a difference!

Auto Trans will not go into top gear all others work okThis is a Surf. Will change into all other gears but will not change to the top gear.

Each gear is activated by a valve shifting and this valve is energised by a relay within the transmission. Your problem could be either of these or related to a computer problem. Only way to solve is have a transmission shop diagnose the problem. Trans. fluid and filter need to be serviced according to the owners manual. Pull the trans. dip stick if you have one and smell the fluid. If it has a burnt it for, the discs could be slipping. Either way a trans shop is your best bet. Good luck. Roger

It has Auto Trans, and will only go into reverse and 1st.Once warmed up for 10 to 15 min it will go into all gears

sounds like a blocked/semi blocked transmission filter. when the oil is cold it wont pass through the filter easily and wont allow gears beyond first notch to be selected when the oil heats up it gets thinner allowing it to pass through more easily. first thing is check fluid level and filter.

Driving down interstate changing lanes when into passing gear and would not come out. took to auto zone computer gave this error tcc commanded on an the ECM detected the TCC slip speed higher than limits...

It is not stuck in passing gear, it is defaulted to 2nd gear because the trans is detecting a problem. Hopefully it is just one of the solenoids, but unless you have experience with the trans I would not recommend trying to fix it. I also would not take it to the dealer, they will try to sell you a trans when all my may need is a solenoid. Ask around for a shop the specializes in transmissions, but is also honest. It will take someone who knows what they are doing to do this.

Hope you find someone.

When first start car and put in drive transmission takes about 5 second to catch

Check the gear-box oil level and also check the gear-box oil filter it may need replacing.

Hi , My audi a4 97 std auto box is slipping in D

Its your body valve in the gear box which is not letting the pump on forward gears pump enough oil to the forward band and because the band isent tight it is slipping..
Now it could be the oil in box and if you take off the auto pan and clean out the filter on the pick up and refill with DEXTRON II TRANS FLUID then you should be ok as long as it hasent slipped to much .
Let me know how you get on . RON

My car has NO transmission fluid.

if it's still moving it should be O K, as long as you top off fluid ASAP.cause of low level should be investigated & remedied.fill transmission through dipstick tube to 'add' mark, run it a bit & add fluid to full mark when hot. do not overfill.trans. fluid & filter should be changed at 100K miles or less.

Transmission not shifting until 50 mph when accelerating passing gear makes trans shutter

You need to have the transmission serviced. This is most likely a clogged Trans filter or you are low on trans fluid.

Yes its the auto matic g/box and get someone to check the oil level and the colour of oil should be Red and clean if brown then take to the auto trans people and get it serviced,as the foward bands either need adjusting or replacing.

Let me know how you get on ........................Ron
