I'm in Australia and have a 2002 Mustang Cobra. I bought it second hand and the cruise control has never worked. I have had a atou electrician look at it and check the common issues but he said he needed a schematic to fix it and i can't seem to get one anywhere over here. can you please advise.

If the cruise control actuator is vacuum controled I would be looking at a problem with the rubber hose.--cracxked , broken or hard and not sealing.. Cruise controls normally work with a less then 150rpm variation and respond when that setting is reached. Check that the cable is correctly adjusted of if cpu controlled that there is not a fault code reading
Not sure if the Grand Am is wired the same as a 1987 Ford Mustang. The cruise control was inoperative when I brought the used car . Dealer gave me $500.00 off the price. I got home and replaced the back window brake light and solved the problem.

The file is a zipped version of your manual. Unzip it using winzip, 7zip, etc. USE the password manualspace.com and the .pdf will open.
The fuse diagrams start on page 115 under Roadside Emergencies. You'll find everyhting you need there. http://manualspace.com/ford-mustang-1999-owner-s-manual.htm
If fuses are good, check power to the cruise control with multi-tester, voltmeter, or equivelant. If there is power, than the cruise control accumulator is shot. If there is still no power, the switch is bad.
cruise control on your escape will work at 30 mph and up. Press 'on 'button, then press gas pedal 'til u reach desired speed, press 'set acc' and you'll be cruisen. You can also do it this way, press 'on' button, then press and hold 'set/acc' button, car will accelerate, let go of button when u reach desired speed. Putting on brakes will deactivate cruise, u can then press 'RSM' to resume speed.
What exactly is it doing or not doing for that matter. Check vacuum lines going to the unit and see if you have any broken hoses. I'll try to get a schematic to you. It's best if you give me your email address so I can send it to you.
