Doesn't sound like an electrical problem to me. the gears in the transmission are just that, gears, and sounds like your reverse gear has gone out. Take it to a reputable transmission shop, they will diagnose it for free and give you a free estimate most of the time.

Car blows engine fuse when put in reverse

It would seem there is a fault on the reverse light circuit causing the fuse to blow, though I am surprised it is blowing the engine fuse, perhaps it is an auto transmission with electronic management?

Manual or auto? Given the fault it is probably auto so I expect the reverse light is unaffected and so too the gear selector inhibitor switch operation? If this is so it would suggest a fault with the transmission, the electrical connections, wiring or electronics.

Sorry I can suggest no more given your rather sparse description.

Whats causing the issues with my transmission? A750E transmission, 2006 toyota tacoma prerunner

code p 2714 refers to transmission fluid pressure (TFP) solenoid D-performance problem or solenoid stuck off===causes --wiring---TFP solenoid--transmission mechanical fault
with the shifting of the gears manually , that rules out a mechanical problem
question now --did you replace the correct solenoid
did you check for faulty wires at harness connections or at the box
I would talk with an accredited auto transmission shop to identify solenoid D on your transmission and to see if there are any problems that occur on a regular basis in that area of the transmission ( wire insulation breaking down in the auto oil , problem solenoids etc

Will only start in 2nd ,reverse in 1st drive past 1st left will not change gear

Hi, Sounds like a transmission problem. Have it checked out by a qualified mechanic. Could also be a electrical fault. Most transmissions are or have electric parts and sensors to keep it running. (computer controlled) Good luck.

Both error codes you have are transmission related. P0736 is an error for reverse has wrong gear ratio. P0700 is a general transmission problem code

Symptoms will not accellerate

If you have a manual gear box check that the clutch is engaging properly (cable operations jam in the case and hold the clutch off---hydraulics will hold off from a blocked compensating port in the master cylinder). If auto transmission have the fault codes read and look for TCM and/or torque converter clutch solenoid fault. check the oil level in the transmission and if not bright cherry red have it replaced . have a pressure test done to determine any internal faults.

Trans fault comes up on dash bored check engine sing, rench as well reversing works good first gear takes awile dives off after biting the gear hard but good oil and sounds normal still work able? 2005...

Hard upshift, This is cause by one factor low transmission pressure this can come from internal leaks at valve body leak or even a internal leak at the torque convertor,or a transmission pump that cant feed the torque convertor properly

Only runs in 1st and 2nd gear and reverse.

This is a fault mode in which the transmission either loses electrical power or the PCM deactivates all of the electronics. The transmission will default to max line pressure. The driver will have Reverse and 3rd, with manual 2nd available by putting the gearshift in 2 or 1 (doesn't matter). 1st, 4th, and TCC lockup will not be available. It will not hurt the car to drive it like this for short periods, but use manual 2nd to get the car moving, and be aware that the trans will generate more heat than normal while operating in limp-home mode due to increased torque converter slippage during 2nd gear starts and no lockup in 3rd gear.

Trans shifts into gear harshly, car feels sluggish off the line
, No 1st, 4th or TCC lockup available, Manual 2nd, 3rd and Reverse are only available gears, CEL is on: Transmission is either in limp-home mode or has lost electrical power. If there are lots of error codes in the PCM, check the under hood fuse that powers the transmission, and if it pops again, look for a short in that circuit like an O2 sensor harness touching exhaust. Otherwise, check PCM codes for a particular fault in the transmission causing the PCM to put it in limp-home mode.

No 1st or 4th available; trans shifts 2nd to 3rd by itself in D or OD and locks the converter : ShiftA solenoid failed. Easy fix in the pan. Or a wiring problem from PCM to trans.. or PCM.

Car goes into gear but feels very sluggish like the brakes are dragging, but it will roll easily (starts out in 4th gear), you manually shift to 2 to get it moving, once it's moving you put it back in OD and the car shifts 3rd to 4th on its own and locks the converter at the appropriate time: ShiftB solenoid failed: Easy fix in the pan. Or a wiring problem from PCM to trans.. or PCM.

4L 60E - 2001 k1500 will not shift into 3-4. Oil is not burn't and stifts great into1-2

  • No 3rd or 4th gear: “3-4” clutches are worn out. R&R. The car is safe to drive (in 2) until you can get it fixed.
  • Trans shifts into gear harshly, car feels sluggish off the line, No 1st, 4th or TCC lockup available, Manual 2nd, 3rd and Reverse are only available gears, CEL is on: Transmission is either in limp-home mode or has lost electrical power.
  • No 1st or 4th available; trans shifts 2nd to 3rd by itself in D or OD and locks the converter : Shift A solenoid failed. Easy fix in the pan. Or a wiring problem from PCM to trans.. or PCM.
Check to see if your transmission is in the limp mode, which would only give you 2nd, 3rd and reverse gears. No 1st or 4th gear.

Have your transmission oil filter changed;
it is located under the transmission pan
The oil is what makes the transmission shift
When you shut off the engine it stops the transmission pump then when you start up again the transmission shifts until the filter clogs again

96 jeep lardeo cant use reverse what can be wrong

Have you checked the transmission oil? how does it drive in other gears, if the oil level is ok and drive in other gears is fine then I suspect you have an internal transmission fault with the reverse gear.
