Question about 2005 Hyundai Tiburon

1 Answer

Air bag light

Code B1513 driver side seatbelt switch open or short, dealer can' t tell me if it is the buckle or seatbelt assembly. I can't afford to replace both so I was going with the cheaper of the 2, the buckle

Have you had any prior experience with this problem?

Thanks in advance for your input

Hi this may be a long shot ? but if you have auto seat belt pretensioners ie activate on impact ? try under your seat and look for the wire/plug connector these sometimes are cause of light illuminating try this? disconnect plug and clean then re connect see if light off do same on passenger seat constant moving/adjusting seat position ? or inadvertantly catching the wire underseat when vacuuming car are a common cause of loose contacts ?

. Were did you check for codes ? an what are you checking with ? you need a factory scan tool to check for those type codes ? or the light flashes codes
Lamp Fault Code (LFC)
When the RCM detects a fault, it will cause the air bag indicator to flash a coded sequence called a LFC. The code is one digit. The digit is indicated by a number of flashes with a 0.5 second interval between pulses. There is a 5 second pause between each display of an LFC.
Each LFC is flashed five times after which the air bag indicator will remain lit as long as the key remains in the RUN position. If there are multiple LFCs, each LFC will flash in order of priority.
Each LFC has one or more associated DTC.
  1. Press TRIGGER. The RCM will run the On-Demand Self-Test and display On-Demand DTCs (reflecting hard system concerns) on the screen.

Air bag Light Stays on.

The seat cushion has an occupant sensor. if it detects occupant and no buckle latch , it may see this as a fault. You may also have a switch failure in the buckle assembly as well.

Air bag light is on what could be the reason

there could be many reasons for the light to come on. it could be a seatbelt buckle switch or a fuse or clockspring etc, the best way to check it is to have the airbag computer scaned for codes, these codes tell you whats not working then you can check it from there, but it tells you what part of the system is bad, like the code can say seatbelt circuit, or front crash sensor. so have it scanned first.

Hyundai getz seatbelt light is permanently on

the seatbelt light/warning illuminates only if driver has not buckled up also the belts are pretension if car has front impact along with air bags so may i suggest that you check under front seats that the wires for seatbelt actuation have not come loose ?either at plug or the belts lockup at side of seats check also for damp on carpets this too causes elec/s malfunctions

Srs air bag lights on does not switch off

When the air bag light stays on it is telling you that the bag is not working. If you have checked the fuses and they are good it should be looked at by a certified tech.

SRS light

Here's a quick check list for most common cost of SRS / Air bag problem.

Dirty contacts on driver and passenger seat belt buckles

Dirty contacts on seat belt connectors (under seats)

Dirty contacts on driver and passenger sides weight sensors (under seat)

Seat covers

Weight on passenger seat
(Example: grocery package trigger SRS / Air Bag light on the way home.)

I recommend you to pass an vacuum over the contacts and use CRC electronic parts cleaner to rule out connectivity problem.

I DO NOT recommend disconnecting the negative battery connector to clean the code(s).

Without the code(s) the dealer will takes "BILLABLE" time to reproduce the problem.

Instrument Panel Codes??

Yes, it's called a lamp fault code.

9 is not familiar to me. Call dealer service department and ask them what code means.

Here are codes for a 94 Aerostar. I don't have 91 Sable. Sorry.
