Question about 1988 Cadillac Sedan DeVille
Both the driver & passenger front doors are closed and locked, but when you press the "unlock" button on the driver's side both doors will not open. I tried to get the door panels off but it's impossible with both doors closed shut, im thinking some kind of lever came loose on the inside but i can't get to it. Do you have any ideas on how to go about doing this & what may have caused this problem in the first place?
How about the passenger side - does it unlock with the key and switch there? Can you open the drivers door with a key? If both these are true, probably the unlock switch on the drivers door is faulty.

it is the keyless entry module! that is the only thing in line with the drivers door lock. the rest of the locks are all connected to a door lock relay. so that only leaves a broken wire or module. go to the module( located in the trunk on the back of the back seat first module in the group of three) and test the tan wire in connector "c" position 18 while activating the lock either from remote or one of the switches and see if you get a positive pulse when doing so. if yes then you have a broken wire from that point to the door lock motor/actuator. if you don't have a positive pulse then the module is bad.
if you have any more question please ask. good luck

use a large flat blade screwdriver or equivalent to pry latch in door up while holding the outside handle up as if to open door.

You most likely have a central locking system that will stay locked until you can unhook the battery. This is sounds like a similar problem I had with my 95 BMW.
