Question about 1997 Buick LeSabre
My 1997 buick lesabre shuts down while driving. I cannot get it started again at the time. If I leave it sit for an hour it will again start and run. I changed gas filter and it still happened. Took it to a garage and they cant find anything wrong with the car. I drove itagain and the same thing happens every day or every other day. Please Help.
It is very likely the part that is giving you the problem is a Crankshaft Position Sensor, they go open circuit when they get hot, then after it cools it becomes a good circuit again, this is very frustrating, had the same issue with my Buick a few years ago, replaced the coils and the ignition module at a cost of hundreds, DID NOT CHANGE A THING, the crank sensor fixed the problem and was $30.00 from Buick.

My 97 Lesabre shuts off while driving-it doesn't give a sound. It does not come back on immediatley. It first seems like it is the battery but the lights/radio/etc..stay on. Why would the car do that...I want to fix it but I don't know what to fix. Please help?

The cam/crank positioning sensor

Most the time its either the crank shaft sensor o r ignition module. When the car quits and doesnt start again, grab a volt meter, chace the wires to the crank shaft sensor ad hit it with the volt meter. Should be a groud a positive and a signal wire. If the signal wire doesnt read anything from 0-5 volts when cranked. The crank shaft sensor is shot. If it does read then its most likely the ignition module. To my knowledge not really any test to test it besides swapping in a new one

Replace your Crankshaft Position Sensor. Cost about 40 to 60.00 for part plus labor.
I just had the same problem and having it replace today.
Hope this helps.

Sounds like a throttle positioning sensor, or fuel regulator.
Sounds like bad coil(s). Once the coils cool they work then get hot and short .

Camshaft Position Sensor. Not the crankshaft position sensor, where a no start condition would occur.
