How can it be wired incorrectly? that is virtually impossible! I just replaced my alternator in my 1993 SL1 and it has one clip like plug that plugs into the back side of the alternator and a red wire that is mounted onto a bolt on the rear of the alternator. But you are right if the alternator were working properly it would produce enough energy to keep the engine running... I would say the alternator they put in is bad and would have them change it again until they get it right.

Either the atternator is bad or wired incorrectly. If it were working it would produce enough energy to keep the engine running.

No power and battery is full

If the engine won't crank, check the condition and tightness of the battery leads, particularly the black earth where it connects to the engine block/bodywork. Loosen and tighten each connection in turn.

An engine that won't crank is a classic symptom of a 'bad earth' .

If the engine cranks slowly this is also a symptom of a bad earth/cable - or a defective battery.

Can you get a friend or neighbour to boost-start your car? If, after cleaning and checking the battery lead connections the car is still sluggish in cranking and won't start - suspect a faulty battery.

Will your car start with a boost-start? Most workshops will do a free battery check for you.

Battery light came on while driving. 2 hours later I could not start the car.

Sounds like a bad alternator. Boost vehicle and when running disconnect positive on battery, if shuts down probably alternator no good, replace.

Our 2007 odyssey the battery died after only one year. Bought new one now four days later car won't start again. We left no lights on or radio, not even the dvd player. What's wrong with this...

Battery might have died cause the altinator is not charging 14+V Please charge the battery, donot boost the dead battery. After charging the battery check the altinator output.

1998 Saturn will not start. Battery connections are clean. No clicking noise, simply won't start. All electrical works. I turn the key to start position and nothing happens, no sound...nothing, Thank you.

try an old fashioned boost from another car using booster cables.or use a battery charger and allow it to charge for 30minutes. either way you choose,if you choose the boost off allow the booster car to run while cables are connected to your car battery, your battery may just be completely dead. after connecting the cables, positive to positive, and negative to negative, allow the booster car to run for 10minutes before you attempt to start your car.this will allow time for your car battery to slightly charge enough to start.if this does'nt work then check for a bad starter.hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com

Purchased car used 7/2009. son away at school in northeast, where its very cold. car is parked most of the time. he is having trouble starting the car. hears clicking sound lights on dash blink, but car...

A new battery would help but I would also check the altinator.Take volt meter set it to DC volts and connect it to the battery terminals and make sure it is reading between 13 to 14.80 volts. If not it will need an altinator too.If the car hasn't been in the northeast before I would have someone check the temp of the anti freeze so the engine dosn't freeze and crack the block.

i`d say your battery is already dead(not able to hold charge) the car requires the continuous flow of power from the altinator. if the the power dies then your altinator is not supplying it properly. get it checked and replaced if nesesary.

Altinator belt

The belt, most likely is shot...just get it replaced. Your car comes equipped with a "tensioner" pulley that keeps the belt tight all the time. Unless you have mechanical experience, I really do NOT recommend trying this job at home...Just DON'T GO TO THE DEALERSHIP!
Good Luck

I was driving and all of a sudden my car cut off and wouldn't start. The only way it would start is by jumping it off, but it would soon cut off

sounds like either your battery or your alternator has gone bad....if you can get it to an auto parts store they can check it out and tell you which it is or both....
