Question about 1993 Honda Accord

93 honda accord howling noise coming from engine

When I start the car and its still cold, it runs fine until it warms up. I get this howling noise coming from passenger side of the engine, oppisite side of the belts and pullys so I kinda ruled out water pump. I have no leaks of any kind and the car still runs good. I cant find any vacuum leaks with soapy water and stethescope. it started small, but now comes on as soon as the car warms up. its seams its coming from the vaccum control box area or right around throttle body and fire wall. the sound is like a heavy teapot noise that goes away when I accelerate or push on the gas, but soon appears again.

I have the same problem. I get this howling sound coming from the passenger engine side in front especially when the car is idling. At higher rpm the howl is reduced. When putting my ear to the air filter box I can hear the howl with a higher pitch, but as coming further away.

Hi try taking the air filter pipe off the throttle body see if the butterfly spindle has no play in the spindle or the retaining screws that hold it to the spindle have not come loose just put your finger on the butterfly while its idling see if the noise goes if not just pinch the vacuum hose on the vacuum box see if noise goes or changes pitch yates210456

Front passenger side thumping at very low speeds

check if you tires have rayon cords or steel belts. this is a problem associated with the older tyres that had rayon cords as the main structure of the tyre. When left standing after running and allowed to cool the rayon belts actually took on a flat spot on the bottom and the noise lasted until the tyre warmed up enough for the tyre pressure to make the tyre round again. In extreme cold it may be the same for steel belted radials as the flat bottom of the tyre would hold the shape until the rubber warmed up .

You'll need to find out where the noise is coming from first.
Is it making the noise before you start driving the car ?
Does it sound like its coming from the passenger side of the engine ?
It could be the serpentine belt or something mechanical.

  • Assumed your AC unit is OK, but uneven temperature distribution. Try to throw the heater on an off severtime. A sticky valve on the heater would cause similar problem.
  • Observe the RPM while parking your car. While the AC cut in cut out (or turn on an off). If it cause no load on the engine. The freon may be low or the compressor is bad. In this case only the intake side of the evaporator is cooler than the other side.

I have a slk55 2006. When Cold starting the enginee. Loud clicking noise occurred when the enginee run @ 5000r/m. Noise comes from the upper part of the enginee. Till the enginee warm up to normal temp.,...

If your revving the engine to 5000 rpm when its cold, chances are the clicking noise is your valves. Cold oil will not get to the top end for proper lubrication until the engine warms up, and running at 5000 rpm with no oil?? not good. If your treating the car like that, I can't believe it hasn't blown up yet.
