Question about 1990 Jeep Cherokee Limited

1 Answer

My 1993 cherokee limited will not stay running

I have just over 245,000 miles on my engine. I have a 318, and we have never had a problem with this jeep! I let it sit all summer long so it is now just my winter car. I just replaced the spark plugs and wires and now all of a sudden it will not stay running. It's like it will not idle. I can drive it into town, but I have to power brake it to keep it running. Please tell me what I can do to fix this, I am hoping for a quick cheap fix

I have a1990 4.0 that does exactly that. I found it has something to do with throttle position, perhaps with the computer

Did it start this prior to wires & plugs done? Has it been running good even after sitting all summer, as in fresh fuel etc has been added.

My jeep did that when the throttle position sensor ( I think $37.00 at A-Z) was going out. I worked on it for weeks before It finally got bad enough to give me a computer code. The Transmission was failing to shift into OD at the last. I was panicing!

1993 dodge Grand Cherokee with a 318 hard starting when cold until things under hood click and fuel pump runs.

Your jeep ecu is in need of repair. It has what is referred to as the delayed check engine light problem. If you'll notice, next time you try starting the jeep, it will not start when the check engine light finally comes on, on the dash. The fuel pump will only come on when the ecu finally energizes the relays, and that's when all the clicking starts. Look on ebay for an ecu repair service.

I have a 1993 Grand Cherokee that runs not more than 30 miles, i already change the tranny 3 times and is the same problem. How i can make it to run good?

Your not even close to explaining whats going on. Is it a tranny issue or is it an engine issue. If it does the same thing after 3 trannys it prabably isnt a tranny issue unless you have a bad torqe converter that hasnt been changed yet.

2005 jeep grand cherokee limited 5.7 hemi vehicles hesitates

The egr valve is located on the front of the right cylinder head. It has a tube attached to it and going to the intake manifold. It has failed and is why your jeep is running rough and hesitating. Replace it and it will fix your driveabllity issues. Disconnect the battery for 2 min to clear the code.

Life expentancy of 1996 grand jeep cherokee engine

If the engine doesnt smoke to much and if you dont have to add much oil between oil changes and you cant hear any unusal noises from the engine you should be able to run that car for many more miles. My dad has a 92 Jeep Cherokee and he over 300,000 miles on it and it still goes as long as you take care of it with regular oil changes you should have no problems

Just bought a 2006 jeep gand cherokee limited 4.7 liter v8 with 77 miles i t seems to be burning gas very quickly actually to fast what could cause this ?

if you mean bad gas mileage (and only 77 miles on it) the engine isn't broken in yet, its still tight. it will take time to break it in, and you should see your mileage start to improve. check your intake and air cleaner, could be clogged.
