When the O/D (Over drive) light flashes, it's telling you that you need to get the vehicle in to your closest Ford dealer service center before any serious damage occurs. It also goes into what is called: "Limp Mode", which will automatically kick in a fail safe strategy that only engages 3rd gear. This way the damage done to the transmission is kept to a minimum. I would have the vehicle towed to the closest Ford dealer, and would stop driving it if you haven't already. I can only say that I hope it is something minor like a malfunctioning TCM, or a bad shift solenoid. Good luck, I hope this info helps!

SOURCE: 1992 ford explorer manuel transmission getting it into gear

Try putting it in 2nd, then 1st, if that works, sounds like you clutch is bad or defective. 1st gear has no syncro to slow the gears down, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th do.

SOURCE: transmission wont pull in reverse

you need it rebuilt. lol the clutches are worn out in forward gears, producing the late engagement and slipping, and reverse is burnt out. The fluid probably isnt red anymore, check to find out, but it needs to be removed and serviced before the etire transmission gives out.

04 mitsubishi endeavor transmission slips goes in to gear but takes a sec to engage and then nuetral light flashes in drive and it wont shift past second gear

Hi Frank,

Your Mitsubishi transmission is a sophisticated piece of machinery, with multiple electronic components and advanced diagnostic capabilities. This means, your transmission is capable of telling you what the problem is, via the diagnostics process.

When the "N" light flashes, this is an indication that a fault has ocurred within your transmission, and to prevent further damage, the transmission is then placed into "Limp" mode , allowing the vehicle to be driven at low speed - just enough to get you to your home or service agent.

What the "N" light flashing means:

i) One flash per second (1Hz) - the computer has detected an internal malfunction. Further diagnostics is required to identify the suspected circuit or component.

ii) Two flashes per second (2Hz) - the trans fluid temperature is too high. Stop the vehicle, place gear into Neutral and leave engine idling for 2-5mins to allow fluid to cool. Chances are your fluid may not be of the incorrect type (must use Mitsubishi fluid only), incorrect level or the fluid is due for replacement.

Further diagnostics should be carried out by extracting trouble codes (DTC) from your vehicle's Powertrain Control Module (PCM). This process takes only a few minutes with the aid of the correct hand held scanner - I recommend this process be done only by a Mitsubishi franchise, as many garages claim they know what they're doing, when in reality, you end up spending unnecessary $'s, due to their lack of knowledge.

If problems in the transmission have been detected, one or more fault codes (DTC) between P0700 to P0999, should be stored in your PCM's memory.

NB: the correct diagnostics procedure will identify the problem very quickly. Do not waste your time taking to your local mechanic, who may not have the required diagnostic scanner.

Hope this helps........and Good Luck !

The 4x4 green light is flashing so the gear changed frist and second only,[automatic gear]

Sounds like a bad output speed sensor, you will need to have the codes pulled to confirm this. The 4x4 transfercase is monitored through the transmission computer and the flashing light is a flag to let you know there is a problem.Let me know if I can help.

O/D light flashing, hard shifting at times

Sounds like the solenoids are not working correctly in your transmission. May need to be rebuilt. Check with your local transmission shop about this problem.

The ''S'' light on the dash board of my Opel Corsa B [1994] keeps flashing as soon as you turn on the ignition. The mechanic said the automatic transmission gear box was spoilt, so ,we had it changed but...

sounds like its stuck in second gear. you have an electrical issue and need to track down a wiring diagram and find your short. this is telling you the shift solenoids are constantly engaged and not allowing to shift. it would be my guess that when the transmission was installed a wire was pinched. inspect the housing where it mates to the engine and make sure there is nothing pinched. i actually have experience with these from being in iraq. good luck.

Gear shifting problem

The 1st thing to do is have a test run on the transmission control module to see if any trouble codes are present, next have you ever serviced the transmission, fluid and filter change, should be done at 60,000 miles, on occasion this can cure problems like yours.
